This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X35-30 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X35-30 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X35-30 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 35mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X35-30 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X35-30 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable stroke, now discontinued in favor of the ACEJ16X35. Its 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 140.7 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into cramped jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot fit.
A stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere within the ordered 30 mm window, giving a usable range of 5-35 mm on site - useful when one fixture must handle parts of different heights. Note this stop is a mechanical end stop only: on air loss the piston still drifts, so it never holds or brakes a load. As a rule of thumb, plan on roughly 60 N (about 6 kg vertical lift with a 2:1 margin) of real work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full rating. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends, and a female M4x0.7 rod thread with M5x0.8 ports.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X35-30 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X35-30 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×35 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 5-35 mm adjustable range lets one clamp handle varied part heights on a machining fixture, with 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa enough for light clamping.
At 30-500 mm/s the rod pushes small cartons or trays off a conveyor within the 30 mm trim window, fitting the tight space beside narrow belts.
The 20.5 kgf theoretical max and short body suit a compact pressing or capping station for vials and sample plates in analytical equipment.
Size the load against 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa; if your fixture needs more, step up to the 20 mm bore (157.1 N push at 0.5 MPa), and for lighter pick-and-place the 12 mm bore (56.5 N) may suffice. The 30 mm window suits variable part heights; order a smaller window if the stroke is fixed. Mounting uses FA/FB flanges or LB feet on the ISO 21287 face. If you need position sensing, the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches - this model has no magnet fitted. For new projects, specify the current-production ACEJ16X35 and confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 140.7 N and pulls 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -30 code gives a 30 mm adjustment window, so the extend stroke is trimmable from 35 mm down to 5 mm via the stop screw. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, with fixed TPU bumpers at both ends.
It is a short-body compact cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome rod, female M4x0.7 rod thread and M5x0.8 ports, saving about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X35 (same bore, stroke and force class) - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. Sensors need the optional -S magnet with CMSE / DMSE switches.
