The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X35-40B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 35mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X35-40B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This double acting compact cylinder carries a 16 mm bore and a 35 mm stroke with a 40 mm adjustment window, so an external stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere in the 0-35 mm range on site. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 140.7 N and 105.6 N, with a theoretical peak of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The male rod thread (B code) bolts straight to I/Y knuckles on the ISO 21287 face.
The short ISO 21287 body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into cramped pick-and-place gantries and test fixtures. As a rule of thumb, plan on about 60 N (roughly 6 kg) of real work at 0.5 MPa, or halve the 10.2 kgf push equivalent for vertical lifts to keep a 2:1 margin. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is ACEJ16X35, same bore, stroke and force class - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick stamped clips or connector housings out of a nest, and the 0-35 mm trimmed stroke keeps the ejector pin travel exactly where the die needs it.
With about 60 N of usable work force at 0.5 MPa, the 16 mm bore seats test plugs into small ports on lab rigs, and the M5x0.8 ports suit compact manifold plumbing.
The 40 mm adjustment window lets a technician shorten the 35 mm extend stroke with the stop screw when a product size changes, without swapping the cylinder.
Size both ways before ordering: the 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa if your load is lighter, while the 20 mm bore delivers 157.1 N if you need more thrust. The 35 mm stroke sits well inside the 75 mm max standard stroke for bore 16, so no made-to-order build is needed. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. This unit has no magnet fitted (no S code), so no CMSE / DMSE switch can be mounted; order the -S version if sensing is required. Replacement: ACEJ16X35.
