This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X60-10B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X60-10B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X60-10B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 60mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X60-10B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X60-10B is a double acting, adjustable-stroke compact cylinder with a 16 mm bore and 60 mm stroke. An external stop screw trims the extend stroke by up to 10 mm, giving a usable range of 50-60 mm on site. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N, rising to 140.7 N at 0.7 MPa. Its short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding. Note: this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X60.
The 8 mm S45C hard-chrome rod ends in a MALE thread (the B code), and air ports are M5x0.8. A fixed TPU bumper at both ends decelerates the piston; the stop screw sets stroke length but is not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. For planning, treat roughly 60 N (about 6 kg lifted vertically with a 2:1 margin) as the practical working force at 0.5 MPa. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) at 30-500 mm/s. No magnet is fitted on this version; the optional -S code adds one for CMSE / DMSE switches. Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping to the ACEJ16X60.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X60-10B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X60-10B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×60 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick machined aluminum brackets off a locating nest, and the 10 mm trim lets the operator fine-tune ejection travel between 50 and 60 mm.
Holding a PCB carrier or connector housing during screwdriving needs only a few tens of newtons; the compact short body fits under low fixture plates where a full-length cylinder will not.
A 60 mm advance positions small containers or cartons on a packaging line; with the optional -S magnet, CMSE / DMSE switches report end positions without external limit switches.
Size both ways: if 100.5 N at 0.5 MPa is marginal for your load, step up to the 20 mm bore (157.1 N push); if the load is light, the 12 mm bore (56.5 N push) saves more space. The 60 mm stroke is within the 75 mm standard limit for bore 16, so no made-to-order stroke is needed. Choose FA/FB flange or LB foot mounting to suit the fixture, and order the -S variant if position sensing via CMSE / DMSE switches is planned. For new designs, specify the current ACEJ16X60 instead of this discontinued model.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa, 140.7 N push and 105.6 N pull. The theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The stop screw shortens the extend stroke by up to 10 mm (usable 50-60 mm), and the male-threaded 8 mm rod connects via standard I/Y knuckles. This model is discontinued - the ACEJ16X60 is the current drop-in, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before ordering.
An external stop screw on the head limits extension anywhere within the ordered 10 mm window, so the rod stops between 50 and 60 mm of travel. It is a mechanical end stop only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so do not rely on it to hold a load. Position sensing requires the optional -S magnet code; this version has no magnet, so CMSE / DMSE switches cannot be mounted unless you order the -S variant or the ACEJ16X60 equivalent.
