This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X60-10SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X60-10SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X60-10SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 60mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X60-10SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: the -10 code gives a 10 mm stop-screw window, so the 60 mm stroke can be trimmed on site to anywhere between 50 and 60 mm. The 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 140.7 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The S code means the optional -S magnet is fitted, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke sensing.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. For sizing, treat about 60 N (0.6 of the push rating) as the usable working force at 0.5 MPa, and expect roughly 5 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin. Note this ACPJ is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is ACEJ16X60 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X60-10SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X60-10SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×60 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick stamped terminals or plastic caps off a nest, and the 50-60 mm trim range lets you tune the eject position without re-machining the fixture.
With the fitted -S magnet driving CMSE or DMSE switches, a PCB or connector test station can confirm the clamp has reached the trimmed stroke before the probe cycle starts.
About 60 N of practical working force at 0.5 MPa presses coder heads or label applicators onto cartons, and the compact body fits the shallow gantry above a conveyor.
At 16 mm bore you get 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa; step down to ACPJ12 for 56.5 N in tighter spaces, or up to ACPJ20 for 157.1 N when the load grows. The male rod thread (B code) suits knuckle and tooling attachments, while FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke - it is not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. Order ACEJ16X60 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
Push 100.5 N and pull 75.4 N at 0.5 MPa; push 140.7 N and pull 105.6 N at 0.7 MPa; theoretical maximum 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is double acting, runs on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) filtered air, proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, with a fixed TPU bumper at both ends and an M5x0.8 port.
The -10 window lets an external stop screw shorten the 60 mm extend stroke by up to 10 mm, giving a usable 50-60 mm range; it cannot extend past the ordered stroke and it does not hold a load on air loss. The ACPJ family is discontinued - order ACEJ16X60, the current ISO 21287 drop-in, and confirm mounting dimensions before the swap.
