This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X60-10 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X60-10 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X60-10 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 60mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X60-10 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X60-10 is a double acting, adjustable-stroke compact cylinder with a 16 mm bore and 60 mm stroke. A stop screw trims the extend stroke by up to 10 mm on site, giving a usable range of 50-60 mm; it shortens the stroke only and never lengthens it. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N, rising to 140.7 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical maximum of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. As a rule of thumb, plan on about 60 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, and expect it to lift roughly 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.
The short ISO 21287 body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and gantries. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends, a female M4x0.7 rod thread and M5x0.8 ports. This model has no magnet fitted; the optional -S code adds one for CMSE / DMSE switches. The ACPJ family is discontinued - the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X60, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X60-10 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X60-10 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×60 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suits light staking and marking on small aluminium brackets, with the 10 mm window letting you dial the press point between 50 and 60 mm.
The short body, about 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, fits between guarding frames where a full-length cylinder will not, moving small plastic housings at 30-500 mm/s.
With about 5 kg of vertical lift capability at a 2:1 margin, it holds flaps or lids down over a 50-60 mm trimmed stroke on semi-automatic carton sealers.
At 16 mm bore this sits mid-range: the 12 mm bore pushes 56.5 N at 0.5 MPa for lighter clamping, while the 20 mm bore delivers 157.1 N when you need more force in the same short body. The 60 mm stroke is within the 75 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore. Note that the stop screw is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke, not a mid-stroke lock - on air loss the piston still drifts, so do not rely on it to hold a load. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt straight to the ISO 21287 face, and the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switch positioning. For new designs, order the ACEJ16X60 instead, matching bore, stroke and force class.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 140.7 N and pulls 105.6 N; the theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -10 code gives a 10 mm adjustment window: the stop screw shortens the 60 mm extend stroke to any setting from 50 to 60 mm. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, with fixed TPU bumpers at both ends.
Yes, but only if you order the -S variant, which carries the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches; this standard version has no magnet, so no switch can be mounted. The ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X60 - swap the P for an E - which matches the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP was built to a DIN standard.
