This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X60-20 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X60-20 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X60-20 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 60mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X60-20 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable stroke, the ACPJ16X60-20 uses a 16 mm bore and a 60 mm stroke that a stop screw trims by up to 20 mm, giving a usable extend range of 40-60 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 140.7 N. As a rule of thumb, plan on roughly 60 N of real work, which lifts about 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod with a female M4x0.7 thread, and the M5x0.8 ports take air filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi). This model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is ACEJ16X60, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X60-20 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X60-20 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to seat small terminals or dowel pins in electronics assembly, and the 40-60 mm trim range lets the operator set the press depth without re-fixturing.
Mounted on an LB foot beside a carton lane, the 60 mm stroke (trimmed to 40 mm) kicks rejected packs off a conveyor; order the -S code if CMSE / DMSE switches are needed for end-position feedback.
With about 3 kg of vertical-lift capability at a 2:1 margin, the cylinder advances a probe carriage into a housing under guard, where the short body fits the 50%-saved length versus an ISO 15552 profile cylinder.
At 100.5 N push (0.5 MPa), bore 16 suits light clamping and part-presenting loads; step down to bore 12 (56.5 N) for lighter work or up to bore 20 (157.1 N) when the load grows. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and is not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts on air loss. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face, and the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches if you order it. For new builds, specify ACEJ16X60.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push is 140.7 N and pull 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, and the ports are M5x0.8. The stop screw trims the extend stroke by up to 20 mm within the ordered window.
An external stop screw shortens the 60 mm extend stroke by up to 20 mm, so the working range is 40-60 mm; it cannot lengthen the stroke past the ordered value and it does not hold a load on air loss. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is ACEJ16X60 in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, and note the magnet is only fitted when the optional -S code is ordered.
