This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X60-30B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X60-30B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X60-30B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 60mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X60-30B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X60-30B is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: the -30 code gives a 30 mm window, so an external stop screw trims the 60 mm stroke down to as short as 30 mm on site. At 0.5 MPa the 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull, rising to 140.7 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical ceiling of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Its short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit.
Note that this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X60 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP series follows a DIN-standard footprint. The rod end here is a male thread (the B code), the port is M5x0.8, and no magnet is fitted because the -S code was not ordered - order ACPJ16X60-30SB if you later need CMSE or DMSE switch positions. As a rule of thumb, plan on about 60 N of usable work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X60-30B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

The ACEJ16X60-30B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×60 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick stamped terminals or plastic caps off a nest, and the 30-60 mm trimmed stroke keeps the ejector pin travel matched to a shallow die pocket.
A machining cell clamping thin aluminium profiles needs about 60 N of usable force - well inside this bore's rating - while the short body fits between the vise jaw and the fence.
The 8 mm hard-chrome rod drives a small diverter gate at 30-500 mm/s, and the male rod thread (B code) bolts straight to an external knuckle on the gate arm.
Size the bore both ways: the 12 mm bore gives only 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, while the 20 mm bore reaches 157.1 N - the 16 mm bore at 100.5 N push sits between them for light clamping and indexing. The 30 mm adjustment window shortens the extend stroke only; it never lengthens it past 60 mm, and the stop screw is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. Mounting is FA/FB flange or LB foot with I/Y rod knuckles, and the male rod thread (B) suits external knuckle joints. Order the -S variant if position sensing via CMSE / DMSE switches is planned. For new builds, specify the ACEJ16X60 instead - this ACPJ model is discontinued.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 140.7 N and pulls 105.6 N; the theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -30 code sets a 30 mm adjustment window: a stop screw shortens the 60 mm extend stroke to any length down to 30 mm. It is a mechanical end stop only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so it is not a load-holding brake. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, with a fixed TPU bumper at both ends.
No - the ACPJ family is discontinued. The current drop-in is the ACEJ16X60, which shares the same 16 mm bore, 60 mm stroke and force class; confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, as the ACP follows a DIN-standard layout. This version has no magnet fitted (the -S code was not ordered), so no switch can be mounted - order the -SB variant for CMSE / DMSE switches. Mounting is FA/FB flange or LB foot, and the short body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder.
