This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X60-30S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X60-30S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X60-30S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 60mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X60-30S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X60-30S is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: the -30 stop screw trims the 60 mm stroke down to as little as 30 mm on site, so one unit covers a 30-60 mm working range. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N, rising to 140.7 N on the extend stroke at 0.7 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight fixtures a full-length body cannot reach.
This bore 16 unit carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped on for end-of-stroke signalling. In practice, plan on about 60 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note this ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X60, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X60-30S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X60-30S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×60 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
A 30-60 mm adjustable stroke ejects finished electronics components from a nest, with the 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa clearing light plastic or stamped parts reliably.
The fitted -S magnet drives CMSE or DMSE switches at both ends, so a PCB test fixture confirms the clamp is fully retracted before the cycle starts.
With about 60 N of practical working force and a trimmed stroke, the short body fits inside a benchtop medical-device press where a profile cylinder will not.
Size by force: bore 12 gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, this 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N, and stepping up to bore 20 reaches 157.1 N - choose the next bore up if your jig needs more than about 60 N of working force. The adjuster is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod can still drift if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Order the ACEJ16X60 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push is 140.7 N and pull 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -30 adjustment window lets a stop screw trim the 60 mm extend stroke anywhere down to 30 mm. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, with a fixed TPU bumper at both ends.
No - the ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X60 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same bore, stroke and force class. Because the ACP was DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions of the ACEJ against your fixture before swapping. This unit's fitted -S magnet carries over as an option on the ACEJ for CMSE / DMSE switches.
