This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X60-30SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X60-30SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X60-30SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 60mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X60-30SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable in stroke, the ACPJ16X60-30SB is a DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 16 mm bore, 60 mm stroke and a 30 mm trim window. A stop screw shortens the extend stroke anywhere within that window, giving a usable 30-60 mm range on site. This unit carries the -S magnet and the B male rod thread, and it pushes 100.5 N (pull 75.4 N) at 0.5 MPa. Its hard-anodized aluminium body runs about 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot. Note: the ACPJ family is discontinued; the current drop-in is ACEJ16X60.
Practically, plan on roughly 60 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 0.6 of the rated push), which lifts about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The fixed TPU bumper at each end only decelerates the piston; it never locks or holds a load, and on air loss the rod still drifts. Ports are M5x0.8, speed spans 30-500 mm/s, and CMSE / DMSE switches can be mounted because this model carries the optional -S magnet. Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping to the ACEJ.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X60-30SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X60-30SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×60 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 30-60 mm trimmed extend stroke clamps small aluminium or plastic workpieces in machining fixtures, with the male rod thread taking an external knuckle.
About 60 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa is enough to push misfilled cartons off a light conveyor lane, and the short body fits under guarding.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm extend and retract on a 30-60 mm verification move in electronics test fixtures.
At 16 mm bore this size delivers 100.5 N push / 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa. Step down to the 12 mm bore (56.5 N push) for lighter pick-and-place, or up to 20 mm (157.1 N push) if the load grows. The 30 mm window trims the extend stroke between 30 and 60 mm; the stop is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so do not rely on it to hold a load. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings plus I/Y rod knuckles bolt to the ISO 21287 face, and the male rod thread (B) suits external knuckles. For new designs, order the ACEJ16X60 - same bore, stroke and force class - and verify mounting dimensions first.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 140.7 N push and 105.6 N pull, with a theoretical maximum of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -30 code sets a 30 mm adjustment window: a stop screw trims the 60 mm extend stroke down to as little as 30 mm. The stop is a mechanical end stop only - it does not hold a load if air is lost.
It is a DIN-standard compact body in hard-anodized aluminium with an S45C hard-chrome rod, saving about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with a fixed TPU bumper at both ends and M5x0.8 ports. The ACPJ is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ16X60 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
