This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X60-30 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X60-30 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X60-30 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 60mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X60-30 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This discontinued ACPJ16X60-30 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 60 mm stroke by up to 30 mm, giving a usable range of 30-60 mm on site. The 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 140.7 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Its hard-anodized aluminium body is an ISO 21287 short build that saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures a full-length body cannot reach.
For real-world sizing, plan on roughly 60 N of usable work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 6 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The rod is 8 mm with a female M4x0.5 thread, the port is M5x0.8, and fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends. This model is no longer in production: the current drop-in is the ACEJ16X60, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X60-30 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X60-30 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×60 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick stamped clips or connector housings off a nest, and the 30 mm window lets the operator trim the eject position without re-machining the jig.
About 6 kg of vertical lift capacity with margin suits pressing test coupons or capping sample vials, while the 30-60 mm adjustable range matches variable specimen heights.
The short ISO 21287 body fits under low guarding beside a conveyor, and 75.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa retracts the tuck blade cleanly at 30-500 mm/s.
At 16 mm bore you sit between the 12 mm (56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa) and 20 mm (157.1 N push at 0.5 MPa) sizes, so pick 16 when 100.5 N at 0.5 MPa covers the job with margin. The 30 mm window suits jigs where the final position is tuned after install. Note the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and is not a load-holding device: on air loss the piston still drifts. FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts bolt to the ISO 21287 face, and add the -S code if you later need CMSE / DMSE switches - without it there is no magnet. Order the ACEJ16X60 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 140.7 N and pulls 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -30 code gives a 30 mm adjustment window, so the extend stroke is trimmed anywhere from 30 mm to the full 60 mm. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, with fixed TPU bumpers at both ends.
Order the ACEJ16X60, the current-production ISO 21287 successor: swap the P for an E and you get the same 16 mm bore, 60 mm stroke and force class in a matching short body. Because the ACP is DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping. If you need position sensing, the replacement also takes the optional magnet code for CMSE / DMSE switches.
