This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X60-50B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X60-50B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X60-50B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 60mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X60-50B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X60-50B is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 60 mm stroke by up to 50 mm on site, giving a usable range of 10-60 mm. At 0.5 MPa the 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull (140.7 N / 105.6 N at 0.7 MPa), so plan on roughly 60 N of real work - about 6 kg lifted vertically with a 2:1 margin. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it fits tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not.
This model is DISCONTINUED. The current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X60 (same bore, stroke and force class); confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP series was built to a DIN-standard footprint. The B code gives a male 8 mm rod thread, the port is M5x0.8, and fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends. No magnet is fitted on this code - the optional -S version is required for CMSE / DMSE switches. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) at 30-500 mm/s.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X60-50B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X60-50B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×60 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
A 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to seat small aluminium parts against a locater, and the 10-60 mm trim range lets one cylinder serve several fixture heights.
About 6 kg of vertical working force with margin suits light pin-pressing on electronics assemblies, with the male rod thread taking an I or Y knuckle directly.
The short body saves roughly half the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots under low gantry rails; add the -S magnet code if position switches are needed later.
Size up or down by force: the 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, while the 20 mm bore reaches 157.1 N - pick the 16 mm when 100.5 N push covers the job. The 60 mm stroke is within the 75 mm standard limit for this bore, so no made-to-order build is needed. FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts bolt to the standard ISO 21287 face. Remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke; it is not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod can drift if air is lost. Order the ACEJ16X60 as your current-production alternative.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa: 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull. At 0.7 MPa: 140.7 N push and 105.6 N pull. Theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -50 code is a 50 mm adjustment window: a stop screw shortens the 60 mm extend stroke anywhere down to 10 mm. It is a mechanical end stop only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so never rely on it to hold a load.
The B code gives a male thread on the 8 mm rod; the air port is M5x0.8 and PT is the standard port thread. This code has no magnet, so no CMSE or DMSE switch can be read - order the -S variant for that. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the ACEJ16X60 is the current ISO 21287 drop-in with the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm mounting dimensions against the datasheet before converting.
