This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X60-50SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X60-50SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X60-50SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 60mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X60-50SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable in stroke, the ACPJ16X60-50SB is a discontinued DIN-standard compact cylinder from AirTAC with a 16 mm bore, a 60 mm stroke and a 50 mm adjustment window. A stop screw trims the extend stroke on site anywhere in the 10-60 mm range, so one unit covers several jig positions. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those figures rise to 140.7 N and 105.6 N, with a theoretical peak of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Plan on roughly 60 N of usable work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 6 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends, a male rod thread (B code) and the optional -S magnet, which this model carries so CMSE / DMSE switches can be mounted. This ACPJ is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X60, and buyers should confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X60-50SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X60-50SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×60 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa clamps small aluminium brackets during drilling, and the 50 mm window lets one cylinder serve pallets of different heights by trimming the extend stroke between 10 and 60 mm.
Because this model carries the -S magnet, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm part ejection, while the male rod thread (B code) takes a knuckle for a swinging kick-off arm at 30-500 mm/s.
With about 6 kg of vertical lift capability at a 2:1 margin, the 16 mm bore flips lightweight divert gates on a packaging conveyor, and the short body fits inside the line guarding where an ISO 15552 profile cylinder cannot.
Size the bore against the load: the 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, this 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N, and stepping up to 20 mm raises it to 157.1 N. If the load needs holding against drift when air is lost, remember the adjuster is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke, not a mid-stroke lock, so add an external brake or valve solution. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings plus I/Y rod knuckles bolt straight to the ISO 21287 face. The 60 mm stroke sits inside the 75 mm standard range for bore 16, and the ACEJ16X60 is the current replacement to quote.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 140.7 N and pulls 105.6 N; the theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -50 code gives a 50 mm adjustment window, so the stop screw trims the 60 mm extend stroke down to as little as 10 mm. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the port is M5x0.8. Note this model is discontinued; the ACEJ16X60 is the current drop-in.
The ACPJ16X60-50SB uses a hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends, and a short ISO 21287-class footprint that saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. The magnet comes from the optional -S code, which this model carries, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches mount directly on the body. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings fit the standard face. Confirm the ISO 21287 dimensions before swapping to the ACEJ16X60.
