This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X60-75B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X60-75B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X60-75B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 60mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X60-75B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable, the ACPJ16X60-75B is a discontinued DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 16 mm bore, 60 mm stroke and a male threaded rod (the B code). Air drives the piston both ways, pushing 100.5 N and pulling 75.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 140.7 N and 105.6 N, with a theoretical ceiling of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -75 suffix sets a 75 mm adjustment window: a stop screw trims the extend stroke on site, so the usable extend range is 0-60 mm. The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into cramped jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot.
Practically, plan for about 60 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (roughly 60% of the push rating), which corresponds to lifting about 5 kg vertically - and halve that, about 3 kg, if you want a 2:1 margin on a vertical lift. Ports are M5x0.8, speed runs 30-500 mm/s, operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof, and a fixed TPU bumper sits at each end. This model carries no magnet because the -S code was not ordered, so CMSE / DMSE switches cannot be fitted; order an -S variant if sensing is needed. The ACPJ family is discontinued - the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X60, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X60-75B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X60-75B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×60 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -75 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa (about 60 N of usable work) clamps light aluminium brackets or plastic housings in machining jigs, with the 0-60 mm trimmed stroke set by the stop screw to match each fixture.
A 60 mm extend stroke with a 75 mm adjustment window nudges finished parts off small rotary indexing plates; the short body fits under the table rim where an ISO 15552 profile cylinder would be about twice as long.
At 30-500 mm/s the rod tucks top flaps on small cosmetic or pharmaceutical cartons; the male threaded rod (B code) takes a knuckle that drives a simple folding blade.
Size this bore by force: 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suits light clamping and part present checks; drop to a 12 mm bore (56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa) for smaller loads, or step up to 20 mm (157.1 N push at 0.5 MPa) when the job needs more muscle. The adjuster is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - it does not lock the piston, so on air loss the rod still drifts and a separate holding method is needed for suspended loads. FA/FB flange and LB foot mounts plus I/Y rod knuckles bolt to the standard face; the male rod thread (B) suits external knuckles and tooling plates. If you need position sensing, order the -S magnet version - this unit has none. For new builds, specify the ACEJ16X60 instead, as this ACPJ model is discontinued.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa, 140.7 N push and 105.6 N pull; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is double acting with a 16 mm bore, 60 mm stroke, 8 mm male-threaded rod, M5x0.8 ports, 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) operating pressure, 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure, -20 to +70 C temperature range, 30-500 mm/s speed and a fixed TPU bumper at both ends. The -75 code gives a 75 mm adjustment window, trimming the extend stroke anywhere in a 0-60 mm range.
Not on this unit: the magnet is the optional -S code and it was not ordered, so no CMSE or DMSE switch can be mounted here - choose an -S variant if sensing is required. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production successor is the ACEJ16X60 (swap the P for an E), a drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP was built to a DIN-standard footprint.
