This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X70-10S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X70-10S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X70-10S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 70mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X70-10S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X70-10S is a discontinued double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 70 mm stroke by up to 10 mm, giving a usable 60-70 mm range. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 140.7 N and 105.6 N, with a theoretical 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding. The S code means the optional -S magnet is fitted, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted directly.
In practice, plan on roughly 60 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 0.6 of the rated push), which corresponds to lifting about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod with a female M4x0.7 thread, and fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends. This model is no longer in production: the current drop-in is the ACEJ16X70, same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X70-10S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X70-10S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×70 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 60-70 mm trimmed stroke and 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suit clamping aluminium brackets during light milling or drilling, with the stop screw set to match the fixture depth.
With the fitted -S magnet and a CMSE switch, the 70 mm stroke confirms part ejection from a PCB tray, running at 30-500 mm/s on filtered air.
About 5 kg of vertical-lift equivalent makes this 16 mm bore a fit for nudging small cartons off a conveyor lane where the short body must fit inside the machine frame.
Size both ways: if 100.5 N of push at 0.5 MPa is more than your load needs, the ACPJ12 at 56.5 N may suffice; if your part weight exceeds about 10 kg, step up to the ACPJ20 at 157.1 N. The 10 mm window only shortens the extend stroke - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Order the ACEJ16X70 as the current-production replacement.
Replacement checklist
Push is 100.5 N and pull 75.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push is 140.7 N and pull 105.6 N, with a theoretical maximum of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Bore is 16 mm, stroke 70 mm adjustable within a 10 mm window (60-70 mm usable), rod 8 mm with female M4x0.7 thread, port M5x0.8, operating pressure 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, fixed TPU bumpers both ends. The model is discontinued; the ACEJ16X70 is the current replacement.
The -10 code gives a 10 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the extend stroke by up to 10 mm, so you can set anywhere between 60 and 70 mm on site. It is an end stop only - it never holds a load if air pressure drops. The S in the code means the optional -S magnet is fitted on this unit, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped to the body for end-of-stroke signalling.
