This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X70-75SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X70-75SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X70-75SB

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X70-75SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 70mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X70-75SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X70-75SB

The ACPJ16X70-75SB is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 70 mm stroke anywhere within the 75 mm window, giving a usable range of 0-70 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N, rising to 140.7 N at 0.7 MPa. Its short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into cramped jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot. The male (B) rod thread suits external knuckles and tooling.

Built around a hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod, it carries fixed TPU bumpers at both ends and runs at 30-500 mm/s on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) filtered air. Because the -S magnet is fitted on this model, CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted directly on the body. Note that the stop screw is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X70, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X70-75SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Where the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X70-75SB Is Used

precision_manufacturing

Small-part ejector on assembly fixtures

Trims the extend stroke down to exactly 12 mm to kick finished connectors off a jig, using the 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa for lightweight plastic parts.

sensors

Position-checked clamping in test rigs

The fitted magnet drives CMSE switches so a PLC confirms the 70 mm clamp is fully extended before an electronics leak test starts.

compress

Compact press for labelling heads

The short body, about 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, fits inside a packaging machine guard to press labels onto vials at up to 140.7 N.

Replacing the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X70-75SB with the ACEJ16X70-75SB

Size the bore against load: the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, while a 12 mm bore manages only 56.5 N and a 20 mm bore reaches 157.1 N under the same pressure. As a rule of thumb, plan on about 60 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which equates to lifting roughly 3 kg vertically with a margin. Choose the male-thread (B) rod if you bolt on knuckles or fixtures, and pair FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts with the ISO 21287 face. If you need position sensing, this unit already carries the optional -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches. For new projects, order the ACEJ16X70 instead, as this ACPJ version is discontinued.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ACEJ16X70-75SB
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X70-75SB FAQ

At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa, push is 140.7 N and pull 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is double acting with a 16 mm bore, 70 mm stroke and a 75 mm adjustment window, running 30-500 mm/s on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) air, with a 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure and M5x0.8 ports.

An external stop screw shortens the extend stroke anywhere within the ordered 75 mm window, so the effective range is 0-70 mm; it cannot lengthen the stroke past 70 mm. The stop is a mechanical end stop only, not a load-holding lock. This ACPJ model is discontinued - the current drop-in is the ACEJ16X70 (ISO 21287), so confirm mounting dimensions before swapping.
