AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X70-75 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X70-75 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 70mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X70-75 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable in stroke, the ACPJ16X70-75 is a DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 16 mm bore and a 70 mm stroke. Air drives the rod out and pulls it back, and an external stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere inside the ordered 75 mm window, giving a usable range of 0-70 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N, and the fixed TPU bumper at each end decelerates the piston at the ends of travel. Speed range is 30-500 mm/s on air filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi).
The hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod keeps the short ISO 21287-class body about 50% shorter in mounting length than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and gantries. In practice, plan for roughly 60 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 6 kg lifted vertically with a 2:1 margin), not the full 100.5 N rating. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is ACEJ16X70, same bore, stroke and force class - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

A 16 mm bore pushing 100.5 N at 0.5 MPa holds light machined brackets in a drilling fixture, with the stop screw set to a shorter extend stroke so the clamp never over-travels into the part.
The 70 mm stroke nudges finished small components off a tray in an electronics assembly cell, and the short body fits where a full-length profile cylinder cannot.
About 60 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa (roughly 6 kg vertical equivalent) is enough to seat nylon standoffs into PCB spacers on a semi-automatic bench press.
Size both ways: if 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is marginal for your load, step up to the 20 mm bore (157.1 N push); if it is generous, the 12 mm bore (56.5 N push) saves space. The 70 mm stroke sits just under the 75 mm maximum standard stroke for bore 16, so no made-to-order stroke is needed. The stop screw is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so do not rely on it to hold a load. Rod end is a female M4x0.7 thread, port is M5x0.8, and FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts bolt to the standard face. This unit has no magnet (that is the optional -S code), so position switches are not available on this version; order ACEJ16X70-S if you need CMSE / DMSE sensing.

The -75 code is a 75 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 70 mm extend stroke on site to any value from 0 to 70 mm; it cannot lengthen the stroke past the ordered value. The stop is a mechanical end stop only, not a mid-stroke lock. This ACPJ model is discontinued - the current-production replacement is ACEJ16X70 (swap the P for an E), a drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.
