AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE100X15S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X15S is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø100mm bore and 15mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE100X15S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the ASP100X15S extends its 25 mm rod with air and lets the return spring pull it home when pressure drops. At the 100 mm bore it is the strongest size in the family, delivering 3640.7 N of push at 0.5 MPa (5211.5 N at 0.7 MPa), already net of the spring. The S code means the optional -S magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped straight onto the hard-anodized aluminium body to flag end positions.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits heavy clamping inside tight press fixtures and guarding. A fixed TPU bumper at each end softens the stroke ends, and the 1/4" air port with an M16x1.5 female rod thread keeps plumbing simple. In practice, plan on about 2184 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which corresponds to lifting roughly 111 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ASE100X15, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

The 3640.7 N push at 0.5 MPa clamps steel housings in a machining fixture, and the spring retracts the platen the moment the clamp air is vented.
Air extends the rod to slide a heavy guard gate into its locked position; on power loss the spring drives it back to the safe retracted state.
A 15 mm stroke is enough to press a sealing bar down onto film bags, with the 100 mm bore giving the force margin for thick multi-layer material.
At 3640.7 N push at 0.5 MPa, the 100 mm bore covers heavy short-stroke clamping; step down to the 80 mm bore (2316.2 N) if the load is lighter and space is tighter. The 15 mm stroke is a standard offering for this bore, so no made-to-order length is needed. Because the spring returns the rod on air loss, the cylinder always parks retracted and will not hold a mid-stroke position under load. This unit carries the -S magnet, so add CMSE or DMSE switches if end-of-stroke signalling is required. For new builds, order the ASE100X15 instead - it is the current ISO 21287 successor in the same bore, stroke and force class; verify mounting dimensions before the swap.
