This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE100X15SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE100X15SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X15SB

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X15SB is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø100mm bore and 15mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE100X15SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X15SB

Single acting push cylinder with spring return: air extends the 25 mm rod and the spring retracts it, so the ASP100X15SB needs only one air line and rests retracted when pressure drops. This 100 mm bore delivers 3640.7 N of push at 0.5 MPa (5211.5 N at 0.7 MPa), already net of the return spring, with a 15 mm stroke and a 1/4" port. The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into heavy clamping fixtures where a full-length cylinder cannot. Note the model is discontinued; ASE100X15 is the current-production replacement in the same bore, stroke and force class.

In practice, plan on about 2184 N of real work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full rating, which translates to lifting roughly 185 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Because the S code is fitted, CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted directly for end-of-stroke signalling, and the male rod thread (B code) accepts standard rod knuckles. Operating range is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof, air filtered to 40 um, -20 to +70 C, speeds of 50-500 mm/s, and a fixed TPU bumper at both ends on a hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE100X15SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Theoretical Output Force (Ø100mm)

PressurePush force (spring return)

0.7 MPa5211.5 N

Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.

Where the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X15SB Is Used

compress

Press-fit bushing insertion

The 3640.7 N net push at 0.5 MPa seats bushings into aluminium housings on a short 15 mm stroke, with the spring clearing the ram between cycles.

factory

Pallet clamp on an SMT line

One air line clamps PCB pallets at a load station; the optional -S magnet feeds CMSE switches to the PLC for clamp-confirmed interlocking.

vertical_align_bottom

Lift-assist part ejection

With about 185 kg of vertical lift capability at a 2:1 margin, the bore 100 push ejects heavy castings from a trim die as the spring retracts the tool.

Replacing the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X15SB with the ASE100X15SB

Size down if 1420.5 N at 0.5 MPa (bore 63) covers the load, or stay at 100 mm when you need the full 3640.7 N net push; there is no larger bore in this family. The spring drives the rod home on air loss, so it will not hold a mid-stroke position - add external locking if that matters. The male rod thread suits CA/CB clevis or I/Y knuckle mounting, and FA/FB flange or LB foot brackets bolt to the same face. Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping to ASE100X15, the current drop-in successor.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ASE100X15SB
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X15SB FAQ

It is a single acting push, spring-return cylinder: air extends the rod, the spring retracts it. Net push (already subtracting the spring) is 3640.7 N at 0.5 MPa and 5211.5 N at 0.7 MPa. Working pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), minimum 0.2 MPa to overcome the spring, speed 50-500 mm/s, bore 100 mm, stroke 15 mm, rod 25 mm, port 1/4".

Order ASE100X15, the current-production ISO 21287 replacement: swap the P for an E and you get the same bore, stroke and force class with a matching short body and mounting family. Before swapping, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture, since the ASP follows the older DIN-standard compact layout.
