This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE100X20 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE100X20 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X20

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X20 is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø100mm bore and 20mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE100X20 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X20

The ASP100X20 is a single acting push cylinder with spring return: compressed air extends the 25 mm rod and the internal spring retracts it, so one air line is all the plumbing needs. At the largest bore in the family it delivers 3640.7 N of push at 0.5 MPa and 5211.5 N at 0.7 MPa, both figures already net of the return spring. It starts working from just 0.2 MPa, the minimum needed to beat the spring. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ASE100X20, which keeps the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

The short ISO 21287 body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into press benches and heavy clamping fixtures where a full-length body will not reach. In practice, plan on about 2184 N (roughly 222 kg of push) of usable work at 0.5 MPa, and for vertical jobs expect it to lift about 185 kg with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries a fixed TPU bumper at both ends, and the optional -S magnet code enables CMSE or DMSE switches - without -S there is no magnet fitted.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE100X20 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Theoretical Output Force (Ø100mm)

PressurePush force (spring return)

0.7 MPa5211.5 N

Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.

Where the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X20 Is Used

compress

Press bench scrap ejection

The 3640.7 N push at 0.5 MPa clears punched slugs and offcuts from under a 100 mm die in one short 20 mm kick, and the spring pulls the plunger back the moment air drops.

precision_manufacturing

CNC fixture clamping

Mounted on an LB foot bracket beside a machining pallet, it clamps a steel housing against a stop with about 2184 N of usable force, releasing automatically on air loss.

vertical_align_top

Lift-assist pop-up locator

With roughly 185 kg of vertical lift capacity at a 2:1 margin, it raises a heavy weldment onto locating pins at a robotic welding station, then retracts to clear part removal.

Replacing the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X20 with the ASE100X20

At 3640.7 N push at 0.5 MPa this is the top of the range; if your load needs less, the bore 80 size gives 2316.2 N at the same pressure and costs less to run. Stroke 20 mm sits inside the standard range for this bore, so no made-to-order stroke is required. Match the female M16x1.5 rod thread and 1/4" port to your fixture, pick FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis mounting, and add the -S code only if you need CMSE / DMSE position switches. Order the ASE100X20 instead - this ASP model is discontinued.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ASE100X20
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X20 FAQ

Push is 3640.7 N at 0.5 MPa and 5211.5 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. Operating pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with a 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof rating, speed is 50-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, and the fluid is air filtered to 40 um. There is no pull stroke - the spring does the return.

No - the ASP family is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is the ASE100X20, which matches the same 100 mm bore, 20 mm stroke and force class on the short ISO 21287 body. Before swapping, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture, since this ASP was built to the older DIN-standard compact pattern.
