AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE100X25 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE100X25 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP100X25 is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø100mm bore and 25mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE100X25 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ASP100X25 is a single acting push cylinder with spring return: air extends the 25 mm rod and the internal spring retracts it, so one air line is enough. At 0.5 MPa the push force is 3640.7 N net of the spring, rising to 5211.5 N at 0.7 MPa, and the 100 mm bore needs at least 0.2 MPa to overcome the spring. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ASE100X25, the ISO 21287 successor in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The short ISO 21287 body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which matters in heavy clamping fixtures and press gantries where every millimetre counts. As a rule of thumb, plan on roughly 2184 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 111 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, and the optional -S magnet code enables CMSE / DMSE switches; without -S there is no magnet.

The 3640.7 N push at 0.5 MPa clamps steel housings in a 25 mm stroke welding press, with the spring clearing the part the moment air drops.
Mounted through a fixture plate, the short ISO 21287 body kicks finished castings off a CNC jig in one 25 mm stroke and retracts on spring return.
The 100 mm bore holds a heavy gate latch closed on a warehouse vehicle; losing air lets the spring retract and fail safe, lifting about 111 kg vertically with margin.
At this force class, 3640.7 N at 0.5 MPa covers heavy clamps and short-stroke presses; if the job needs less, the 80 mm bore gives 2316.2 N at the same pressure. Remember the spring returns the rod home on air loss, so it will not hold a mid-stroke position. Match FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis mounts to your fixture, and order the -S code only if CMSE / DMSE sensing is required. For new projects, specify ASE100X25 and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ASP is DIN-standard.
Replacement checklist
Push force is 3640.7 N at 0.5 MPa and 5211.5 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring, so no derating is needed. Working pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof, speed 50-500 mm/s, and the 1/4" port feeds the 100 mm bore. At 0.2 MPa the air just starts to beat the spring.
