The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP12X5S is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 5mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE12X5S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ASP12X5S is a single acting push cylinder with spring return: air extends the 6 mm rod and the internal spring retracts it, so it runs on one air line and sits normally retracted at rest. This 12 mm bore size delivers 40 N of push at 0.5 MPa (62.7 N at 0.7 MPa), both figures already net of the return spring, and it needs only 0.2 MPa to overcome the spring. The S in the code means the optional magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke sensing.
Its short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight jigs and small fixtures. A fixed TPU bumper at each end decelerates the rod at the limits of travel. For sizing, treat about 24 N (roughly 0.6 of the 40 N rating) as the usable working force, which lifts about 2 kg vertically with margin. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ASE12X5, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

The female M3x0.5 rod thread takes standard I/Y knuckles, and the fitted -S magnet pairs with CMSE / DMSE switches. For new projects specify the ASE12X5, the current drop-in successor in the same bore, stroke and force class.
