This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE16X10 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE16X10 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP16X10 is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 10mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE16X10 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Single acting push cylinder with spring return, the ASP16X10 extends its 8 mm rod on air and retracts by spring when pressure drops. This 16 mm bore size delivers 78.4 N of push at 0.5 MPa (118.6 N at 0.7 MPa), already net of the spring, and runs on 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with a minimum working pressure of 0.2 MPa. It is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ASE16X10 in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The short ISO 21287-style body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures, small gates and compact clamping modules. Because the spring pulls the rod home on air loss, plan real work at about 47 N (roughly 0.6 of the rated push), which is enough to lift about 4 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. No magnet is fitted on this code; order the -S variant if you need CMSE / DMSE switch sensing.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE16X10 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force (spring return) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 78.4 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 118.6 N |
Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.
| ASP | DIN compact cylinder (single-acting push, spring-return, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×10 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Ejects finished 3-4 kg parts from a small electronics molding tray; the 10 mm stroke clears the cavity and the spring retracts the rod automatically between cycles.
Clamps lightweight circuit board carriers with about 47 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa; one air line only, since the spring does the return.
Kicks folded flap on a compact packaging head where a full-length profile cylinder will not fit; the short body keeps the station narrow.
Size up if 78.4 N at 0.5 MPa is marginal: the 20 mm bore gives 127.4 N and the 25 mm bore 210.1 N at the same pressure. Step down to the 12 mm bore (40 N) only for very light ejection tasks. Match FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis mounting to your fixture, and add the -S code if position sensing with CMSE / DMSE switches is planned. For new designs, specify the ASE16X10 instead and confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since this DIN-standard series is discontinued.
Replacement checklist
Push is 78.4 N at 0.5 MPa and 118.6 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. Minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa, range 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi). For reliable sizing, plan about 47 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, roughly a 4 kg vertical lift with a 2:1 margin. Speed range is 50-500 mm/s.
The hard-anodized aluminium body with S45C hard-chrome rod is a short compact build that saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. Fixed TPU bumpers at both ends decelerate the rod at the ends of travel. FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis mounting bolt to the standard face. The model is discontinued; the ASE16X10 is the current drop-in successor - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
