The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP16X5B is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 5mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE16X5B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a single acting push cylinder with spring return: air extends the 8 mm rod and the internal spring retracts it, so only one air line is needed and the rod sits retracted whenever pressure drops. The 16 mm bore delivers 78.4 N of push at 0.5 MPa (118.6 N at 0.7 MPa), already net of the spring, and it starts working from just 0.2 MPa. Note this model is discontinued - the current-production drop-in is the ASE16X5, same bore, stroke and force class, so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
The short ISO 21287 body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits cramped ejection and clamp stations. For sizing, plan on about 47 N of usable work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 4 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, and the B code gives a male rod thread. The magnet is the optional -S code; this version has none, so CMSE or DMSE switches cannot be fitted unless you order -S.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
A 5 mm stroke and 78.4 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to press a small PCB onto pogo-pin contacts in an in-circuit test nest, and the spring retracts the plunger the moment air is lost.

Inserts a locking pin into a small guard or fixture latch; with the optional -S magnet a CMSE or DMSE switch confirms extension, though this non-S version carries no magnet.
At 78.4 N push (0.5 MPa) this 16 mm bore covers light ejection and part-present clamps; step down to a 12 mm bore (40 N) for tiny fixtures or up to 20 mm (127.4 N) when the load creeps past about 47 N of real work. Because the spring returns the rod on air loss, it will not hold a mid-stroke position - pick a double-acting ACE if you need that. The 5 mm stroke is within the standard range for this bore, the male rod thread (B) suits I/Y knuckles, and order the -S code if CMSE/DMSE sensing is planned. Replacement: ASE16X5.
