The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP16X5SB is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 5mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE16X5SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the discontinued ASP16X5SB extends its 8 mm rod with air and retracts it with a spring, so one air line is all the plumbing a 5 mm stroke needs. At 0.5 MPa the net push is 78.4 N (spring already subtracted), rising to 118.6 N at 0.7 MPa, and the spring only starts to move once supply reaches 0.2 MPa. The 16 mm bore sits in the light-clamp class, well below the 210 N a 25 mm bore delivers at the same pressure.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it fits inside tight fixture plates and sliding guards. This -S version carries the optional magnet, so CMSE or DMSE switches can report end positions, and the B code gives a male rod thread. A fixed TPU bumper pads both ends. Since production has ended, plan the swap to the current ASE16X5 and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first. As a sizing rule, keep real work near 47 N at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 4 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.

On a blister line, the rod nudges a finished carton off a chute stop with 118.6 N at 0.7 MPa, and the spring retracts fast enough for a 50 mm/s minimum cycle.
Size down to a 12 mm bore (40 N at 0.5 MPa) for lighter ejection tasks, or up to a 20 mm bore (127.4 N) when the clamp needs more margin. Because the spring returns the rod home on air loss, the cylinder cannot hold a mid-stroke position under load. The 5 mm stroke is within the standard range for this bore, so no made-to-order stroke is needed. Match LB foot or FA/FB flange brackets to the fixture, keep the -S magnet if CMSE or DMSE sensing is required, and order the ASE16X5 as the current-production replacement.
