This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE25X25B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE25X25B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X25B

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X25B is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø25mm bore and 25mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE25X25B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X25B

A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the ASP25X25B uses air to extend the rod and an internal spring to retract it, so one air line is all the plumbing a 25 mm bore machine needs. At 0.5 MPa it delivers 210.1 N of push already net of the spring, rising to 308.3 N at 0.7 MPa, and it starts working from just 0.2 MPa. The rod end carries a male thread (the B code) and the air port is M5x0.8.

The short ISO 21287 class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. In practice, plan on about 126 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, enough to lift roughly 10 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note this unit has no magnet (no S code), so no CMSE or DMSE switch can be fitted unless you order the -S variant. The ASP family is discontinued; ASE25X25 is the current-production replacement in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since this model follows the DIN-standard footprint.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE25X25B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Theoretical Output Force (Ø25mm)

PressurePush force (spring return)
0.5 MPa210.1 N
0.7 MPa308.3 N

Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.

SOptional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet).
BRod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).

Where the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X25B Is Used

compress

Bench-top press jig

The 210.1 N push at 0.5 MPa stamps, seats or rivets small terminals on an electronics workbench, with the spring retracting the tool the moment air is released.

packaging

Carton hold-down clamp

Mounted on an FB flange above a packing station, the male-thread rod carries a pad that presses flaps flat before taping, then springs clear for the next box.

sensors

Ejector on a sorting chute

A short 25 mm stroke kicks mis-sized parts off a conveyor lane; with the -S magnet ordered, a DMSE switch confirms each ejection cycle.

Replacing the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X25B with the ASE25X25B

Size the job both ways before committing: if 210.1 N at 0.5 MPa is more than you need, the 20 mm bore gives 127.4 N; if you need headroom, the 32 mm bore pushes 352.5 N. Remember the spring drives the rod home on air loss, so this cylinder cannot hold a mid-stroke position. Mount with FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis, and order the -S code only if you want the magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches. For new projects, specify ASE25X25 instead - it is the current drop-in successor.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ASE25X25B
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X25B FAQ

Push force, already net of the return spring, is 210.1 N at 0.5 MPa and 308.3 N at 0.7 MPa. Working pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 50-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, and the port is M5x0.8 with a male rod thread. No pull force exists because this is a single acting push cylinder.

The ASP25X25B is discontinued. Order ASE25X25 - swap the P for an E - which matches the same 25 mm bore, 25 mm stroke and force class in the current ISO 21287 compact family. Verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture first, since this model was built to the DIN-standard footprint, and remember the -S magnet option is what enables CMSE / DMSE switches.
