This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE25X5SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE25X5SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP25X5SB is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø25mm bore and 5mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE25X5SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ASP25X5SB is a single acting push cylinder with spring return: air extends the 10 mm rod and the internal spring retracts it, so one air line is all the machine needs. This 25 mm bore size delivers 210.1 N of push at 0.5 MPa and 308.3 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the spring, and it starts moving from just 0.2 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit.
This unit carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped on for end-of-stroke signals. The B code gives a male rod thread, and the fixed TPU bumper at each end simply decelerates the rod at the ends of travel. Note that this model is discontinued: the current-production replacement is the ASE25X5 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. In practice, plan on roughly 126 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 6 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE25X5SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force (spring return) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 210.1 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 308.3 N |
Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.
| ASP | DIN compact cylinder (single-acting push, spring-return, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 25 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×5 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
A 5 mm stroke and 210.1 N push at 0.5 MPa seat snap caps on cosmetic bottles; the spring retracts the punch the moment air is released, clearing the neck for the next bottle.
On a small machining fixture, the short ISO 21287-class body pushes a locating pin out 5 mm between cycles, and the return spring pulls it back so chips cannot jam the bore.
With the -S magnet fitted, a DMSE switch confirms the carton pusher reached its 5 mm end position, giving the PLC a go signal at up to 500 mm/s travel speed.
At 210.1 N push at 0.5 MPa this 25 mm bore sits between the 20 mm size (127.4 N) and the 32 mm size (352.5 N); step down for lighter clamps or up if your part weight grows. The 5 mm stroke is a standard length for bore 25, so no made-to-order stroke is needed. Because the spring drives the rod home on air loss, this cylinder returns to the retracted position rather than holding a mid-stroke pose. Pair the male rod thread with an I or Y rod knuckle, pick FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis mounting, and remember the -S magnet is what enables CMSE / DMSE switch mounting. For new projects, order the ASE25X5 instead - this ASP model is discontinued.
Replacement checklist
Push force is 210.1 N at 0.5 MPa and 308.3 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring, so no subtraction is needed. It begins to move at 0.2 MPa and runs on 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) air filtered to 40 um, with a proof pressure of 1.5 MPa (215 psi). A practical rule is to load it to about 126 N at 0.5 MPa, which is roughly a 6 kg vertical lift with a 2:1 margin. Speed range is 50-500 mm/s and the rod is 10 mm with a male thread.
This ASP25X5SB is no longer in production. The current drop-in is the ASE25X5, the same bore, stroke and force class with the P swapped for an E; confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping since the ASP follows the DIN-standard compact layout. On this unit the -S magnet is fitted, so CMSE reed or DMSE solid-state switches clamp to the body for end-of-stroke detection; the fixed TPU bumpers at both ends only decelerate the rod and never hold position.
