AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE32X25LB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP32X25LB is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø32mm bore and 25mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE32X25LB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the discontinued ASP32X25LB uses air to extend the rod and an internal spring to retract it, so one air line is all the plumbing a machine needs. At 0.5 MPa the 32 mm bore delivers 352.5 N of push, already net of the spring, rising to 513.4 N at 0.7 MPa. The spring drives the rod home whenever air is lost, so the cylinder always parks retracted and never holds a mid-stroke position. Minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa, the pressure needed to beat the spring.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight fixtures, guards and slide assemblies. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries a 12 mm S45C hard-chrome rod with a female M8x1.25 thread, and fixed TPU bumpers decelerate both ends of travel. Plan on about 211 N of usable work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 18 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. This model is discontinued: the current-production replacement is ASE32X25, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
A 25 mm stroke and 352.5 N at 0.5 MPa is enough to seat rubber gaskets into automotive door seals on a small bench press, with the spring retracting the tool between cycles.
Foot-mounted via the LB bracket, the cylinder clamps aluminium brackets against a CNC locating stop; about 211 N of usable force holds the part through light facing cuts.
Air extends the plunger to push pressed plastic caps out of the die cavity, and the return spring clears the part automatically the moment the air valve exhausts.
Size against the load: the 25 mm bore pushes 210.1 N at 0.5 MPa and the 40 mm bore reaches 556.8 N, so 352.5 N sits squarely between them for a 25 mm stroke job. If the load must stay put on air loss, note that the spring only returns the rod to the retracted home position and holds nothing in between. This LB foot-mounted version has no magnet, so no CMSE or DMSE switch can be fitted; order the -S code if position sensing is needed. The model is discontinued and replaced by ASE32X25 in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Replacement checklist
Push is 352.5 N at 0.5 MPa and 513.4 N at 0.7 MPa, both figures already net of the return spring. Working pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with a 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure, and 0.2 MPa is the minimum needed to overcome the spring. Speed range is 50-500 mm/s, the port is 1/8" (PT), and the rod end is a female M8x1.25 thread.
Order ASE32X25, the current-production ISO 21287 successor made by swapping the P for an E. It matches the same 32 mm bore, 25 mm stroke and spring-return force class, and accepts the same FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis family. Because the ASP is DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping.
