This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE40X25 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE40X25 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP40X25

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP40X25 is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø40mm bore and 25mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE40X25 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP40X25

Single acting push cylinder with spring return, the AirTAC ASP40X25 extends its 12 mm rod on air and retracts on the built-in spring, so one air line is all the plumbing you need. At 0.5 MPa the 40 mm bore delivers 556.8 N of push already net of the spring (808.1 N at 0.7 MPa), enough for clamping, ejecting and part-return duties on packaging and assembly fixtures. Working range is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof, and speed runs 50-500 mm/s.

The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight guarding and slide fixtures. A fixed TPU bumper pads both ends of travel, the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, and the optional -S magnet code enables CMSE / DMSE switches (no magnet without it). Note this model is discontinued: the current-production replacement is ASE40X25, same bore, stroke and force class - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. As a rule of thumb, plan on about 334 N (roughly 34 kg vertical) of real work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full rating.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE40X25 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Theoretical Output Force (Ø40mm)

PressurePush force (spring return)
0.5 MPa556.8 N
0.7 MPa808.1 N

Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.

SOptional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet).
BRod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).

Where the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP40X25 Is Used

compress

Blister-pack clamp bar

Air pushes the sealing bar down onto blister cavities at 556.8 N; the spring lifts it clear the moment the valve exhausts, so no trapped parts if air drops.

conveyor_belt

Bottle reject pusher

A short 25 mm stroke is ideal for kicking off-spec bottles sideways off a filling line conveyor, with the spring clearing the lane between rejects.

precision_manufacturing

Fixture part ejector

After a machining or press operation, air extends the rod to push the finished bushing out of its nest; the spring retracts for the next load.

Replacing the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP40X25 with the ASE40X25

Size both ways: if 556.8 N at 0.5 MPa is more than the job needs, the ASP32X25 gives 352.5 N in the same stroke; if you need more, the ASP50X25 reaches 875.5 N. Remember the spring returns the rod home on air loss - it will not hold a mid-stroke position, so add an external stop if you need one. Mount with FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis brackets, and order the -S code only if you want the magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches. For new builds, specify the ASE40X25 instead, as this ASP model is discontinued.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ASE40X25
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP40X25 FAQ

Push is 556.8 N at 0.5 MPa and 808.1 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. Working pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 50-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, and air must be filtered to 40 um. The 0.2 MPa minimum is what it takes to beat the spring.

The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis options. Switches are possible only when you order the optional -S magnet code, which lets CMSE / DMSE sensors read position; without -S there is no magnet. Also note the ASP series is discontinued - the drop-in successor is ASE40X25, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before ordering.
