This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE80X15S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE80X15S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X15S

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X15S is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø80mm bore and 15mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE80X15S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X15S

A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the ASP80X15S uses compressed air to extend its 20 mm rod and an internal spring to retract it, so one air line is all the plumbing needs. At the 80 mm bore it delivers 2316.2 N of push at 0.5 MPa (3321.5 N at 0.7 MPa), figures already net of the spring. The hard-anodized aluminium body follows the ISO 21287 short format, cutting roughly 50% of the mounting length compared with an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into dense press fixtures and guarding where a full-length body cannot. Operating range is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with a 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof rating.

Because the S code is in this model number, the optional -S magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clipped on for end-of-stroke signalling. A fixed TPU bumper at each end decelerates the rod, and the female M12x1.75 rod thread accepts standard I/Y knuckles. Note that this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ASE80X15 (swap the P for an E), and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. In practice, plan on about 1390 N (roughly 141 kgf) of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 118 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE80X15S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Theoretical Output Force (Ø80mm)

PressurePush force (spring return)

0.7 MPa3321.5 N

Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.

Where the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X15S Is Used

compress

Bench-top crimping press

The 2316.2 N push at 0.5 MPa over a 15 mm stroke suits crimping terminals or stakes on small aluminium housings in an electronics assembly cell.

precision_manufacturing

Fixture part ejection

Spring return kicks the rod back the moment air drops, ejecting machined blanks from a drilling jig without a second valve or a trapped-air circuit.

packaging

Carton hold-down clamp

About 141 kgf of usable clamping force at 0.5 MPa holds cartons or trays steady on a packing-table fixture, with the short body fitting under a low guard.

Replacing the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X15S with the ASE80X15S

Size the bore to the load, not the peak rating. If 2316.2 N at 0.5 MPa is more than your job needs, the ASP63X15S class (1420.5 N at 0.5 MPa) may suffice; if you need more, the ASP100 series reaches 3640.7 N at 0.5 MPa. Remember the spring drives the rod home whenever air is lost, so this cylinder will not hold a mid-stroke position. Mount with FA/FB flange or LB foot brackets on the ISO 21287 face, and keep the -S magnet in the order code if CMSE / DMSE switching is planned. Order the ASE80X15 as the current replacement and verify mounting dimensions against the datasheet.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ASE80X15S
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X15S FAQ

Push is 2316.2 N at 0.5 MPa and 3321.5 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. Minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa to overcome the spring, with an operating band of 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi), proof pressure of 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed of 50-500 mm/s, a 1/4" port, and air filtered to 40 um as the fluid.

This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed or solid-state switches mount directly on the body for end-of-stroke detection. The ASP family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ASE80X15 (swap the P for an E) in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping.
