This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE80X25 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE80X25 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X25

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X25 is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø80mm bore and 25mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE80X25 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X25

A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the ASP80X25 uses an 80 mm bore to deliver 2316.2 N of push at 0.5 MPa (3321.5 N at 0.7 MPa), both figures already net of the return spring. Air extends the rod; the spring retracts it to the normally retracted home position, so only one air line is needed and the minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa. Its short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight press fixtures and guarded stations a full-length body cannot reach.

At 0.5 MPa the net push converts to about 236 kgf, so plan on lifting roughly 118 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin, or budget about 1390 N of real work force. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries a 20 mm S45C hard-chrome rod with a female M12x1.75 thread, a 1/4" PT port, and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is ASE80X25, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE80X25 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Where the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X25 Is Used

compress

Pneumatic press stamping

A short-stroke marking press on an electronics assembly line uses the 2316.2 N push at 0.5 MPa to emboss batch codes into aluminium housings, with the spring retracting the tool between cycles.

factory

Clamping of machined castings

On a CNC fixture for gearbox castings, the 80 mm bore clamps the part with about 1390 N of usable force while the compact body fits inside the fixture's guard envelope.

forklift

Gate pusher on a pallet line

A pallet conveyor uses the 25 mm stroke to kick pallets onto a side lane, lifting parts of roughly 118 kg vertically within a 2:1 safety margin.

Replacing the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X25 with the ASE80X25

Size against neighbours: the 63 mm bore gives 1420.5 N at 0.5 MPa, while the 100 mm bore reaches 3640.7 N, so the 80 mm sits mid-pack for heavy clamping with a short 25 mm stroke. Because the spring returns the rod on air loss, the cylinder will not hold a mid-stroke position - it always drives home retracted. If you need position feedback, order the -S variant with the optional magnet so CMSE or DMSE switches can be fitted; this plain ASP80X25 code has no magnet. FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis mounts bolt to the same face family. Since ASP is discontinued, specify ASE80X25 as the current replacement and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ASE80X25
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X25 FAQ

Push is 2316.2 N at 0.5 MPa and 3321.5 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. It is a single acting push, spring-return cylinder with an 80 mm bore, 25 mm stroke, 20 mm rod with female M12x1.75 thread, 1/4" PT port, operating pressure 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 50-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, and air filtered to 40 um.

Order ASE80X25: swap the P for an E and you get the current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class. Before swapping, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture, and remember the magnet is only present on the -S code, which enables CMSE / DMSE switches.
