This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE80X25B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE80X25B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X25B

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X25B is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø80mm bore and 25mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE80X25B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X25B

This single acting push cylinder extends its rod with air and retracts it by return spring, so one air line is all the plumbing it needs. The 80 mm bore delivers 2316.2 N of push at 0.5 MPa (3321.5 N at 0.7 MPa), already net of the spring, which is enough to eject or clamp heavy parts in a fixture that has no room for a full-length body. The short ISO 21287-style body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, and the male rod thread (the B code) bolts straight to standard I/Y knuckles.

Because the spring pulls the rod home whenever air is lost, the rest position is always retracted - it will not park mid-stroke or hold a load on its own. Plan on about 1390 N of usable work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full rating, which corresponds to lifting roughly 118 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note that the ASP80X25B is discontinued: the current-production successor is the ASE80X25 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. This unit has no magnet; order the -S code if you later need CMSE / DMSE switch sensing.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE80X25B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Theoretical Output Force (Ø80mm)

PressurePush force (spring return)
0.5 MPa2316.2 N
0.7 MPa3321.5 N

Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.

SOptional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet).
BRod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).

Where the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X25B Is Used

precision_manufacturing

Press die ejection

Ejects stamped brackets from a press die with 2316.2 N at 0.5 MPa over a 25 mm kick-off stroke; the spring retracts the plunger automatically between cycles.

compress

Pallet clamp on a machining line

Clamps cast housings against a hard stop in a CNC fixture, where the short body fits under the fixture plate and the male rod thread takes a threaded clamp tip.

forklift

Gate pusher at a dock

Swings a heavy dock gate open with about 118 kg of vertical-lift-equivalent force, then the spring returns the rod clear of traffic when air drops.

Replacing the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X25B with the ASE80X25B

Size up or down from the 80 mm bore: a 63 mm bore gives 1420.5 N at 0.5 MPa, while a 100 mm bore reaches 3640.7 N - pick 80 mm when your clamp or eject force sits between those. The 25 mm stroke suits short approach moves at 50-500 mm/s, and the minimum 0.2 MPa working pressure must be available to overcome the spring. FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis brackets match the mounting face, and the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches. For new projects, specify the ASE80X25 instead, since the ASP80X25B is out of production.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ASE80X25B
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X25B FAQ

At 0.5 MPa it pushes with 2316.2 N, rising to 3321.5 N at 0.7 MPa - both figures are net of the return spring. Working pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof, and at least 0.2 MPa is needed to beat the spring. Speed range is 50-500 mm/s, the port is 1/4" PT, and the rod is 20 mm with a male thread (B code).

Order the ASE80X25, the current-production ISO 21287 successor: swap the P for an E and you get the same 80 mm bore, 25 mm stroke and force class. Before swapping, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture, since the ASP was built to a DIN-standard compact pattern. The ASE also offers the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches if you need position sensing.
