This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE80X25S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE80X25S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X25S

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X25S is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø80mm bore and 25mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE80X25S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X25S

Single acting push cylinder with spring return, the AirTAC ASP80X25S extends its 20 mm rod on air and retracts on the built-in spring, so one air line is all the plumbing a machine needs. At 0.5 MPa the 80 mm bore delivers 2316.2 N of push already net of the spring, rising to 3321.5 N at 0.7 MPa; the spring only overcomes at 0.2 MPa (28-145 psi working band, 1.5 MPa / 215 psi proof). Running speed is 50-500 mm/s on air filtered to 40 um.

The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight clamping bridges and guarded stations. In practical terms the push force lifts about 118 kg vertically once you keep a 2:1 margin, so match it against real part weight before ordering. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production replacement is ASE80X25, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE80X25S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Theoretical Output Force (Ø80mm)

PressurePush force (spring return)
0.5 MPa2316.2 N
0.7 MPa3321.5 N

Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.

Model Code: Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X25S

SOptional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet).
BRod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).

Where the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X25S Is Used

compress

Press-fit bushing insertion

The 2316.2 N push at 0.5 MPa seats small bushings into aluminium housings on a 25 mm stroke, with the spring clearing the tool the instant air drops.

conveyor_belt

Bottle-line reject pusher

Mounted beside a conveyor, the 80 mm bore kicks off-spec containers off the belt in one short stroke while CMSE switches confirm the return.

precision_manufacturing

Fixture clamp on a CNC jig

The short body tucks under a jig plate where a full-length profile cylinder will not fit, clamping castings with about 1390 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa.

Replacing the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X25S with the ASE80X25S

Size against the job: if 2316.2 N at 0.5 MPa is more than you need, a 63 mm bore gives 1420.5 N, while a 100 mm bore reaches 3640.7 N in the same spring-return family. Because the spring drives the rod home on air loss, the ASP80X25S returns to the retracted position and does not hold a mid-stroke pose - add a separate clamp if the workpiece must stay put. The -S magnet on this unit pairs with CMSE / DMSE switches for end-of-stroke signals, and FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis mounts bolt to the standard face. Order the ASE80X25 as the current drop-in and verify ISO 21287 dimensions.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ASE80X25S
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X25S FAQ

Push is 2316.2 N at 0.5 MPa and 3321.5 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. Minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa, the operating band is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi), proof pressure is 1.5 MPa (215 psi), and speed runs 50-500 mm/s on air filtered to 40 um.

Order the ASE80X25, the current-production ISO 21287 successor: swap the P for an E and you keep the same 80 mm bore, 25 mm stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture first, since the ASP follows the older DIN-standard compact footprint.
