This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE80X25SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE80X25SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X25SB

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X25SB is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø80mm bore and 25mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE80X25SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X25SB

A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the ASP80X25SB extends its 20 mm rod with air and retracts on the spring, so one air line does the whole job. This 80 mm bore delivers 2316.2 N of push at 0.5 MPa (3321.5 N at 0.7 MPa), already net of the spring, and needs just 0.2 MPa to overcome the spring. It is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ASE80X25, which keeps the same bore, stroke and force class.

The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight press fixtures and guarding where a full-length body cannot fit. Because this unit carries the -S magnet code, CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted directly on the hard-anodized aluminium body. In practice, plan on about 1390 N (roughly 142 kg) of usable push at 0.5 MPa, or about 118 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE80X25SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Theoretical Output Force (Ø80mm)

PressurePush force (spring return)
0.5 MPa2316.2 N
0.7 MPa3321.5 N

Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.

Where the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X25SB Is Used

compress

Bench-top crimping press

With 2316.2 N at 0.5 MPa, the 80 mm bore crimps terminals and small inserts in electronics assembly, and the spring retracts the tool the moment air drops.

factory

Gate latch on packaging machinery

The 25 mm stroke is enough to lock and release guard gates on a filling line, with the 1/4" port feeding a single solenoid valve.

vertical_align_bottom

Ejector on a die-cast trim station

Air pushes finished housings off the fixture at up to 500 mm/s; the return spring clears the part automatically when the valve vents.

Replacing the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X25SB with the ASE80X25SB

Size this bore when your load sits between the 1420.5 N of a 63 mm bore and the 3640.7 N of a 100 mm bore at 0.5 MPa; ASP80X25SB at 2316.2 N covers the middle with headroom. The male rod thread (B code) pairs with I/Y knuckles, and FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis mounting bolts to standard fixtures. Remember the spring returns the rod home on air loss rather than holding a mid-stroke position, so add a stop if you need to park a load. Order the ASE80X25 as the current drop-in and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ASE80X25SB
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X25SB FAQ

Push is 2316.2 N at 0.5 MPa and 3321.5 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. Working range is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof, minimum 0.2 MPa to beat the spring, speed 50-500 mm/s, and a 1/4" port on the 80 mm bore.

A fixed TPU pad at each end decelerates the rod at the ends of travel only; it never locks or holds a load. The S in ASP80X25SB means the optional -S magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can signal end positions. The model is discontinued - the ASE80X25 is the current replacement, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before ordering.
