AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE80X5 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X5 is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø80mm bore and 5mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE80X5 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the ASP80X5 extends its 20 mm rod with air and retracts it by spring, needing only one air line and a minimum of 0.2 MPa to beat the spring. At 0.5 MPa it delivers 2316.2 N of push net of the spring (3321.5 N at 0.7 MPa), so it suits short-stroke clamping and pressing where a big bore must fit a small envelope. Its 5 mm stroke is well inside the 300 mm standard range for bore 80.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which matters in tight press fixtures and machine guards. In practice the 2316.2 N figure supports about 1390 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, or lifts roughly 118 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production replacement is the ASE80X5, a drop-in successor in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 2316.2 N push at 0.5 MPa ejects stamped brackets from a die on a 5 mm kick, with the spring clearing the part each cycle at 50-500 mm/s.
A 5 mm stroke is enough to swing a clamp arm onto an aluminium housing; the short body fits where an ISO 15552 profile cylinder cannot.
On a packaging line, the bore 80 push nudges misaligned cartons off a conveyor; spring return resets the pusher the moment air drops.
Size by force: bore 80 gives 2316.2 N at 0.5 MPa net of the spring; step down to bore 63 (1420.5 N) for lighter clamps or up to bore 100 (3640.7 N) for heavy presses. The spring drives the rod home on air loss, so it will not hold a mid-stroke position. Order the -S code if you need the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches; this plain ASP80X5 has no magnet. FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis mounts bolt to the standard face. Replacement: ASE80X5.
Replacement checklist

For switching, order the -S variant with the optional magnet so CMSE or DMSE reed or solid-state switches can sense position; this plain ASP80X5 carries no magnet. Check the ISO 21287 dimensions of the ASE80X5 successor before swapping.
