This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ATE25X5SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ATE25X5SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ATP Single Acting Port Compact Cylinder ATP25X5SB is a single acting, pull (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø25mm bore and 5mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ATE25X5SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting pull cylinder with spring return, the ATP25X5SB keeps its rod extended at rest and uses compressed air to retract it over a 5 mm stroke. The 25 mm bore delivers 170.9 N of pull at 0.5 MPa and 253.3 N at 0.7 MPa, both figures already net of the return spring, and at least 0.2 MPa is needed to overcome the spring. Its hard-anodized aluminium body follows the ISO 21287 compact format, so it takes up roughly half the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder in the same bore class.
This unit is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ATE25X5, which matches the same bore, stroke and force class, so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. Because the S code is in this model, the optional -S magnet is fitted and CMSE or DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke detection. The B code gives a male rod thread, and a fixed TPU bumper at each end absorbs end-of-travel impact. As a planning figure, about 103 N of the 0.5 MPa pull is realistic for steady work, which corresponds to lifting roughly 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ATE25X5SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Pull force (spring return) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 170.9 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 253.3 N |
Single-acting pull: the spring extends the rod; air retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.
| ATP | DIN compact cylinder (single-acting pull, spring-return, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 25 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×5 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
On a small electronics assembly gripper, the spring keeps the vacuum cup block extended; 170.9 N of air pull at 0.5 MPa retracts it 5 mm to release each component.
A PCB test fixture uses the fitted -S magnet with a CMSE switch to confirm the 5 mm retraction of a latch plate before the test cycle starts.
On a packaging machine guard, the spring holds the interlock pin out; air pull retracts the pin 5 mm so the gate can swing open during changeover.
Size down to the ATP20X5SB class if your load needs only 88.1 N of pull at 0.5 MPa, or step up to the ATP32X5SB class when you need 296.0 N. Remember that on air loss the spring returns the rod to its extended home position and no mid-stroke position is held, so design your fixture around the normally-extended rest state. The 5 mm stroke sits well inside the standard range for this bore, and mounting options such as FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis bolt to the ISO 21287 face. Order the ATE25X5 as your current-production replacement and verify its mounting dimensions against your fixture first.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa the net pull is 170.9 N, rising to 253.3 N at 0.7 MPa; both figures are already net of the return spring, and a minimum of 0.2 MPa is required to move the rod. Plan on roughly 103 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Operating range is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with a 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure, speed 50-500 mm/s, and the rod is 10 mm with a male thread on this B-coded model.
Order the ATE25X5, the current-production ISO 21287 successor made by swapping the P for an E. It matches the same 25 mm bore, 5 mm stroke and force class, and it keeps the short compact body that saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. Because the original is DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping, and note the -S magnet on this unit carries over as an option on the replacement for CMSE / DMSE switches.
