This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ATE40X25 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ATE40X25 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ATP Single Acting Port Compact Cylinder ATP40X25

The AirTAC Airtac ATP Single Acting Port Compact Cylinder ATP40X25 is a single acting, pull (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø40mm bore and 25mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ATE40X25 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ATP Single Acting Port Compact Cylinder ATP40X25

This is a single acting pull cylinder with spring return: an internal spring holds the rod extended and compressed air retracts it, needing at least 0.2 MPa to overcome the spring. The 40 mm bore delivers 500.3 N of pull at 0.5 MPa and 729 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the spring, through a 12 mm S45C hard-chrome rod with an M8x1.25 female thread and a 1/8" PT port. The hard-anodized aluminium body follows the ISO 21287 short format, saving roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, and a fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends. Note that this model is discontinued; the current-production successor is the ATE40X25.

For real-world sizing, plan on about 300 N of usable pull at 0.5 MPa rather than the full rating, which translates to lifting roughly 25 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Position sensing is not fitted on this code: the magnet is the optional -S suffix, and only when you order ATP40X25S can CMSE or DMSE switches be mounted. Speed range is 50-500 mm/s over a 25 mm stroke, and the ATE40X25 drop-in matches the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ATE40X25 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

0.7 MPa729.0 N

Single-acting pull: the spring extends the rod; air retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.

Where the Airtac ATP Single Acting Port Compact Cylinder ATP40X25 Is Used

vertical_align_top

Lift fixture latch on a bottling line

The spring keeps a guard latch raised by default and a 500.3 N pull at 0.5 MPa drops it only when the machine controller commands air - a fail-safe posture for a 25 kg-class gate.

settings

Retract locating pin in a welding jig

A normally extended locator pin on a 25 mm stroke clears the fixture path only during loading; the 12 mm hard-chrome rod resists the cycle abuse of an automotive spot-weld cell.

conveyor_belt

Return a stopper blade on a packaging conveyor

Spring force holds the stopper up between cartons; a short air pulse pulls it down at up to 500 mm/s, so product flow resumes the instant the valve vents.

Replacing the Airtac ATP Single Acting Port Compact Cylinder ATP40X25 with the ATE40X25

Check the load in both directions of the range: the 32 mm bore gives 296 N at 0.5 MPa if your pull duty is lighter, while the 50 mm bore reaches 775 N at 0.5 MPa if 500.3 N leaves no headroom. Remember the spring returns the rod to its extended home on air loss and will not hold a mid-stroke position. Mount with FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis brackets, and if you need switch feedback order the -S magnet code. For new projects specify the ATE40X25 instead, since this ATP version is out of production.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ATE40X25
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ATP Single Acting Port Compact Cylinder ATP40X25 FAQ

Net of the return spring, this 40 mm bore pulls 500.3 N at 0.5 MPa and 729 N at 0.7 MPa. Working pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof, air filtered to 40 um, temperature -20 to +70 C, speed 50-500 mm/s, and a 1/8" PT port with an M8x1.25 female rod thread.

Order the ATE40X25, the current-production ISO 21287 successor made by swapping the P for an E. It matches the same 40 mm bore, 25 mm stroke and spring-extend force class, but confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before the swap, and add the -S code there if you need CMSE or DMSE switch sensing.
