AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ATE80X10B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ATE80X10B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. The AirTAC Airtac ATP Single Acting Port Compact Cylinder ATP80X10B is a single acting, pull (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø80mm bore and 10mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ATE80X10B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ATP80X10B is a single acting pull cylinder, DIN-standard compact build: a spring extends the 20 mm rod and compressed air retracts it, so the unit rests normally extended and fails to the extended position on air loss. With the spring already deducted, this 80 mm bore delivers a net pull of 2159.1 N at 0.5 MPa and 3101.6 N at 0.7 MPa, and it needs at least 0.2 MPa to overcome the spring. Air filtered to 40 um, 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) operating range, 50-500 mm/s speed and a fixed TPU bumper at both ends round out the spec. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ATE80X10.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight fixtures, guards and clamping nests. The B code gives a male rod thread with a PT port thread on the 1/4" port. As a working rule, plan on about 1295 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (roughly 60% of the rating), which corresponds to lifting about 132 kg vertically, or about 66 kg with a 2:1 margin. Note there is no magnet fitted on this code; order the optional -S version if you need CMSE / DMSE switch sensing.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
On a machining fixture for aluminium housings, the spring holds the clamp open and air pulls the rod to release, so a dropped air line leaves the part free rather than jammed - 2159.1 N net pull handles the toggle linkage.
A packaging line diverting off-spec cartons uses the 10 mm stroke to retract a gate against the spring; the normally-extended rest state guarantees the lane clears when air is lost.
A small pneumatic slide on an electronics assembly head uses the 80 mm bore to pull a tool plate home at up to 500 mm/s, with the TPU bumpers absorbing the end-of-stroke snap.
Size against the net pull figures: the 63 mm bore pulls 1320 N at 0.5 MPa and the 100 mm bore reaches 3395.3 N, so the 80 mm bore at 2159.1 N sits squarely in the middle for medium clamping and retraction duty. The 10 mm stroke stays within the standard range for this bore. Because the spring only returns the rod to its extended home position, it will not hold a mid-stroke position on air loss. FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis mountings bolt to the same face family. For new designs, specify the ATE80X10 instead and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since this DIN-standard body differs.
