AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ATE80X25 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. The AirTAC Airtac ATP Single Acting Port Compact Cylinder ATP80X25 is a single acting, pull (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø80mm bore and 25mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ATE80X25 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting pull cylinder with spring return, the ATP80X25 uses a spring to extend the rod and compressed air to retract it, so the rod sits normally extended and fails to the extended position if air is lost. The 80 mm bore delivers a net pull of 2159.1 N at 0.5 MPa and 3101.6 N at 0.7 MPa, already measured against the return spring, with a minimum working pressure of 0.2 MPa needed to overcome the spring. Air supply must be filtered to 40 um, pressure runs 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof, temperature spans -20 to +70 C, and speed is 50-500 mm/s.
The short ISO 21287 class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which matters when an 80 mm bore must fit inside a press fixture or machine guard. In practice, plan on about 1295 N of real work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full rating, which is roughly 132 kg of usable vertical pull; halving the raw 220 kgf equivalent gives about 110 kg as a conservative 2:1 lift figure. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries a fixed TPU bumper at both ends, the S45C rod ends in a female M12x1.75 thread, and the air port is 1/4". Note this model is discontinued: the current-production replacement is the ATE80X25, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
On a stamping die fixture, the spring holds the clamp pad extended over the 25 mm stroke; 2159.1 N of net pull at 0.5 MPa retracts it only while air is applied, so parts stay clamped through a power failure.
In an assembly line pallet stop, the normally extended rod lifts a pin by default; a 2:1 margin on the 220 kgf equivalent means about 110 kg can be lifted vertically with confidence, and air loss drops the mechanism back to the safe raised state.
Mounted with an FB flange inside a CNC machine guard, the short ISO 21287 body fits where a full-length profile cylinder cannot, and the spring re-extends the locking bolt the instant the 1/4" air line vents.
Size the bore by net pull, not piston area: 2159.1 N at 0.5 MPa and 3101.6 N at 0.7 MPa are already after the spring, so a 63 mm ATP (1320 N at 0.5 MPa) suits lighter clamping while stepping up is rarely needed at this force class. Because the spring returns the rod to its extended home on air loss, the cylinder will not hold a mid-stroke position - use a double acting ACP (now ACE) if you need to stop and hold anywhere in the stroke. The 25 mm stroke is within the standard range for bore 80. This unit has no magnet fitted; order the -S code (ATP80X25S) if you want CMSE or DMSE switches. Mounting options include FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis. For new designs, specify the ATE80X25 instead - this ATP is discontinued.
