This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ATE80X25B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ATE80X25B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ATP Single Acting Port Compact Cylinder ATP80X25B is a single acting, pull (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø80mm bore and 25mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ATE80X25B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting pull cylinder with spring return, the ATP80X25B keeps its 20 mm rod extended by an internal spring and retracts it with air pressure. The 80 mm bore delivers 2159.1 N of pull at 0.5 MPa and 3101.6 N at 0.7 MPa, both figures already net of the spring. At least 0.2 MPa (28-145 psi working band) is needed to overcome the spring and stroke the rod. This model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ATE80X25, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
The short ISO 21287 body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight machine frames and guarded assemblies. For sizing, plan on about 1295 N of real work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full rating, which corresponds to lifting roughly 110 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The male rod thread (B code) bolts to standard I/Y knuckles, and the fixed TPU bumper at each end simply decelerates the rod - it never locks a load in place.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ATE80X25B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Pull force (spring return) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 2159.1 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 3101.6 N |
Single-acting pull: the spring extends the rod; air retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.
| ATP | DIN compact cylinder (single-acting pull, spring-return, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 80 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×25 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The spring keeps a retract hook extended over the pallet edge; 2159.1 N of air pull at 0.5 MPa draws the hook clear before a forklift enters the bay.
A normally-latched die-cart gate stays closed on the spring; the 80 mm bore pulls the latch open with 3101.6 N at 0.7 MPa and re-latches automatically on air loss.
The spring holds constant take-up tension on a conveyor return belt while the 25 mm stroke absorbs belt stretch, retracting under air when the belt is serviced.
Size down to the 63 mm bore (1320 N pull at 0.5 MPa) if your clamp or retract load is lighter, or step up to the 100 mm bore (3395.3 N) for heavier retraction duty. On air loss the spring drives the rod back to its extended home position, so this cylinder will not hold a mid-stroke position - pick a double-acting ACE if you need to stop mid-travel. FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis brackets suit the mounting face, and the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches if end-position sensing is added later. Order the ATE80X25 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
Net of the return spring, the 80 mm bore pulls 2159.1 N at 0.5 MPa and 3101.6 N at 0.7 MPa. Working pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with a 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof rating, air filtered to 40 um, speed 50-500 mm/s, and -20 to +70 C operation. The 1/4" port serves the single air connection, and the male rod thread is 20 mm rod with M12x1.75 female thread available on the non-B version.
The ISO 21287 short body cuts about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it fits shallow frames and guarded zones. Switches are not fitted on this code: order the -S variant to get the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches. Note this model is discontinued - the ATE80X25 is the current drop-in, so verify ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before ordering.
