AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ATE80X25S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. The AirTAC Airtac ATP Single Acting Port Compact Cylinder ATP80X25S is a single acting, pull (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø80mm bore and 25mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ATE80X25S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting pull cylinder with spring return, the ATP80X25S keeps its 80 mm bore rod extended at rest and uses compressed air to retract it. At 0.5 MPa it delivers 2159.1 N of pull net of the spring (3101.6 N at 0.7 MPa), so 0.2 MPa is the minimum needed to beat the spring. As a short-body ISO 21287 class unit it saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight clamping fixtures and machine guards. Note: the ATP family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ATE80X25.
This S-coded model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted directly on the hard-anodized aluminium body for end-of-stroke detection. The 20 mm S45C hard-chrome rod ends in a female M12x1.75 thread, air is supplied through a 1/4" port, and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends absorb the return. For planning, treat about 1295 N (roughly 66 kg vertical) as the realistic working pull at 0.5 MPa instead of the full rating.

Size against the 0.5 MPa pull of 2159.1 N: the 63 mm bore in this family gives 1320.0 N if the load is lighter, while the 100 mm bore reaches 3395.3 N for heavier retraction work. Keep strokes within the short single-acting range and run 50-500 mm/s. If you need a normally-extended fail position with mid-stroke holding, this spring-return design will not hold position on air loss - consider the double acting ACE/ATE instead. Choose FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis to match the fixture, and keep the S code if CMSE/DMSE switching is required. Before ordering, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions of the ATE80X25 replacement against your drawing.
