The AirTAC Airtac ATP Single Acting Port Compact Cylinder ATP80X5S is a single acting, pull (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø80mm bore and 5mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ATE80X5S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting pull cylinder with spring extend, the ATP80X5S keeps the rod normally out and uses compressed air to retract it over a short 5 mm stroke. At 0.5 MPa the net pull is 2159.1 N (3101.6 N at 0.7 MPa), already deducted for the return spring, so the numbers you see are the numbers you clamp with. The 80 mm bore takes a 1/4" port and an M12x1.75 female rod thread, and the S code means the magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke signalling.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight fixtures and guarding where a full-length body will not go. For sizing, treat about 1295 N (roughly 0.6 of the 0.5 MPa pull) as the realistic working force, which lifts about 110 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production replacement is the ATE80X5, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

The normally extended rod holds an aluminium gearbox housing against a fixture; air retraction at 0.5 MPa gives 2159.1 N of pull for fast release between cycles on a CNC line.
A 5 mm kick-off stroke clears thin pressed brackets from the die face; the spring pushes the ejector plate out the moment air pressure drops, a natural fail-safe at the press.
With the fitted magnet and a DMSE switch, the PLC confirms the gate is in its extended home position before the filler head advances, at speeds up to 500 mm/s.
Size by force first: at 0.5 MPa this 80 mm bore nets 2159.1 N of pull, while a 63 mm bore gives 1320 N and a 100 mm bore reaches 3395.3 N in the same family. The spring returns the rod to its extended home on air loss and will not hold a mid-stroke position, so add an external stop if you need one. FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis mountings bolt to the same face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Order the ATE80X5 as the current drop-in successor.
