You must size the holding capacity against your static load, not the cylinder thrust, because the clamp holding force and pneumatic thrust are two separate quantities. The integrated variable air cushion only decelerates the piston near stroke ends; the mechanical clamp is what actually holds the load.
This 100mm bore model operates at 0.15-0.7MPa and runs at 30-500mm/s. The lock engages only after the rod has stopped, meaning it cannot brake a moving load. It releases via a separate G1/8 enclasp port once air pressures on both sides of the piston are balanced. The -S magnet works with AirTAC CMSE reed and DMSE electronic sensors for position feedback.

Choose this 100mm bore for heavy vertical loads requiring a 5500N static hold and 3927N thrust at 0.5MPa. If your load is lighter, stepping down to the 80mm bore gives 2513N thrust and a 3600N hold. If you need more force, the 125mm bore offers 6136N thrust and an 8600N hold. This BSAI model beats the SAIL series when you must lock at any mid-stroke position rather than just at the stroke end. A plain SAI cylinder suffices if you only need standard motion without any holding brake.
For safety, the clamp locks only after the rod stops and requires balanced pressure to unlock, preventing abrupt rod jumps. Human-safety-critical applications require an independent external safety measure. This 800mm stroke configuration uses PT tapered ports (1/2 inch cylinder port, G1/8 enclasp port) and accepts Basic, FA, FB, CA, CB, CR, LB, TC, TCM1, or TCM2 mounts. Because the 800mm stroke is long, an external guide is recommended to prevent side-load damage to the M20x1.5 rod thread.
