Because this is a single-rod configuration, the forward thrust reaches 6136 N at 0.5 MPa (8590 N at the 0.7 MPa practical maximum). You must size the holding capacity against the static load, as the 8600 N clamp force is a separate metric from the cylinder's travel thrust.

This model includes a -S magnet for precise position sensing with AirTAC CMSE (reed) and DMSE (electronic) switches. Is the Airtac BSAI Locking Clamp Cylinder BSAI125X600S the Right Clamp-Lock?

Choose this 125 mm bore when an application demands extreme holding capacity that a smaller bore cannot provide, such as stepping down from this size to the 100 mm bore (which offers 5500 N holding force and 3927 N thrust at 0.5 MPa). The BSAI125X600-S is preferred over a SAIL model when you need to lock the rod at an intermediate point in the travel rather than solely at the stroke end. If no mid-stroke holding is required, a plain SAI cylinder suffices.

For safe operation, remember the clamp locks only after the cylinder has stopped moving and cannot act as a dynamic brake. It must be unlocked with balanced air pressures on both sides of the piston to prevent the rod from jumping abruptly. For safety-critical loads, an independent external safety measure is required. This build features a PT tapered port thread, a sturdy M27x2 rod thread that handles high side loads, and accepts Basic, FA, FB, CA, CB, CR, LB, TC, TCM1, and TCM2 mounts. Given the 600 mm stroke, an external guide rail is strongly recommended to support the rod and prevent binding.
