The AirTAC Airtac CMSE Magnetic Reed Sensor CMSE-030-H is a genuine CMS magnetic position switch. It senses the magnet ring in a pneumatic cylinder's piston and signals when the piston reaches that point, giving a 2-wire output on 5-240 V AC/DC with a 3 m flying lead. It only works on a cylinder that carries a piston magnet.
The CMSE-030-H pairs a magnetic reed contact with the high-temperature construction of the CMS-H variant, so it can report piston position on cylinders installed in hot areas. Output is 2-wire over a 3 m flying lead; the contact accepts anything from 5-240 V AC/DC and the body is sealed to IP64.
Because the reed is a passive mechanical contact, no supply electronics sit near the heat - the switch simply closes a circuit when the magnet arrives. That makes it a straightforward choice for oven-adjacent or press-zone cylinders. Check that the E profile matches the sensor groove of your cylinder, and confirm the temperature rating from the datasheet.

A reed contact switches a wide window, 5-240 V AC or DC, which is why it suits AC circuits and relay logic. IP64. The CMS range has no RW / IP68 option - that belongs to DMS and EMS. Switching distance, response time, current rating, voltage drop, LED behaviour, contact life, weight and dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.

|---|---|
| E | Profile letter: the mounting / groove type that fits a particular cylinder body. This family offers E, G, H, J. It is a fit code, not a performance grade. |
| 030 | 3 m flying lead. 020 / 030 / 050 / 100 are 2 / 3 / 5 / 10 m flying leads; M08 and M12 are M8 / M12 connector versions. |
| H | High-temperature version. On a CMS the suffix -H is the high-temperature version — do not confuse it with the H profile letter. |
We do not hold the full profile-to-cylinder-series table, so confirm the profile letter against your cylinder model before ordering — send us the cylinder part number and we will check the fit.
The split is electrical, not quality. Solid-state DMS and EMS are DC-only and suit modern PLC inputs; the reed-based CMS switches a much wider window, so it is the one for AC circuits, relay logic and older panels. The RW (IP68) option exists on DMS and EMS only.

Steam-heated dryer cans keep the area hot; the H-rated reed tracks web-tension cylinder position along the corrugator without degrading.
A gate cylinder beside the annealing furnace reports fully-open status; the 3 m lead lands the wiring outside the heated enclosure.
Around a curing press, ambient heat is constant; the high-temperature reed confirms the core cylinder is seated before steam is admitted.
Specify the H build whenever the cylinder sits in a heated zone that would age a general-purpose switch; elsewhere, the standard CMSE is the simpler choice. Reed output suits AC and DC circuits alike because the contact ignores polarity - electronic DMS/EMS switches cannot do that and are DC-only. The 3 m flying lead lets you land the wiring outside the hot enclosure. As always, the switch reads nothing unless the piston carries a magnet, and the E profile has to fit the cylinder groove - send us the cylinder model to verify.
Quick checklist
Use the F-MQ bracket on round-body cylinders and F-ACT on tie-rod cylinders where there is no groove to seat the switch. Both are ordered separately from the switch. Switching distance and mounting dimensions come from the factory datasheet — ask us for the sheet that matches your cylinder.
It is a high-temperature magnetic reed switch with a 2-wire output, supplied from 5-240 V AC/DC, in an IP64 housing and finished with a 3 m flying lead. The reed contact has no polarity. Datasheet confirmation is recommended for current-carrying limits and the precise temperature rating.
Functionally it reports the same piston position, but the technology differs. This reed contact is mechanical and works on AC or DC without polarity, while a DMS or EMS switch is solid-state, DC-only and, in 3-wire NPN/PNP form, built for PLC input cards. In a hot zone the H reed build usually survives better; for rapid DC cycling, go electronic.
