The AirTAC Airtac CMSH Reed Sensor CMSH-030-H is a genuine CMS magnetic position switch. It senses the magnet ring in a pneumatic cylinder's piston and signals when the piston reaches that point, giving a 2-wire output on 5-240 V AC/DC with a 3 m flying lead. It only works on a cylinder that carries a piston magnet.
AirTAC built the CMSH-030-H for hot spots on a machine. It is still a 2-wire reed position switch with a mechanical contact, still tolerant of any supply between 5-240 V AC or DC, still IP64, still on a 3 m flying lead - but the H suffix marks the high-temperature version, cleared for cylinders sitting near heat sources.
A reed switch draws no standing current and injects almost no leakage into the loop, which is why it stays readable on older relay-style inputs as well as modern ones. Fit the H profile to the matching sensor groove on your cylinder; the letter is a fit code, and we will confirm the seating for your exact series on request.

A reed contact switches a wide window, 5-240 V AC or DC, which is why it suits AC circuits and relay logic. IP64. The CMS range has no RW / IP68 option - that belongs to DMS and EMS. Switching distance, response time, current rating, voltage drop, LED behaviour, contact life, weight and dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.
| CMS | Reed switch cylinder sensor — reed (magnetic contact). |
|---|---|
| H | Profile letter: the mounting / groove type that fits a particular cylinder body. This family offers E, G, H, J. It is a fit code, not a performance grade. |
| 030 | 3 m flying lead. 020 / 030 / 050 / 100 are 2 / 3 / 5 / 10 m flying leads; M08 and M12 are M8 / M12 connector versions. |
| H | High-temperature version. On a CMS the suffix -H is the high-temperature version — do not confuse it with the H profile letter. |
We do not hold the full profile-to-cylinder-series table, so confirm the profile letter against your cylinder model before ordering — send us the cylinder part number and we will check the fit.
The split is electrical, not quality. Solid-state DMS and EMS are DC-only and suit modern PLC inputs; the reed-based CMS switches a much wider window, so it is the one for AC circuits, relay logic and older panels. The RW (IP68) option exists on DMS and EMS only.
| This switch | CMSH · 2-wire · 5-240 V AC/DC |
|---|---|
| Consider DMS | the solid-state range with NPN / PNP 3-wire outputs (DC only) |
| Consider EMS | the mini 2-wire solid-state switch (DC only) |
| Mounting parts | F-MQ (round body), F-ACT (tie-rod) |
A cylinder that pushes finished trays out of a small drying oven carries the magnet option; the -H switch tolerates the hot air around it.
Beside a glue tank held at operating temperature, the reed contact confirms the press cylinder has reached the bond position.
On an impulse sealer, the switch sits next to heated jaws and reports full clamp so the timer circuit may fire.
Stay with this -H version when the cylinder sits near a heater wall, oven or steam line; the standard CMSH is for normal ambient. The wide 5-240 V AC/DC window lets one spare serve both 24 V DC controls and 110/230 V AC signalling circuits. The 3 m lead suits fixed mounts; for faster changeover swaps, look at an M8 or M12 connector variant instead. Seat the H profile in the matching groove of a magnet-equipped cylinder and confirm your series with us first.
Quick checklist
Use the F-MQ bracket on round-body cylinders and F-ACT on tie-rod cylinders where there is no groove to seat the switch. Both are ordered separately from the switch. Switching distance and mounting dimensions come from the factory datasheet — ask us for the sheet that matches your cylinder.
Type: reed position switch with a mechanical 2-wire contact. Output: 2-wire, no polarity. Supply: 5-240 V AC or DC. Protection: IP64. Wiring: 3 m flying lead. The -H suffix adds the high-temperature construction over the general CMSH build.
Yes. The -H rating describes the switch body, not the sensing principle; it closes only when the magnet built into an AirTAC piston passes by. The H profile must also seat correctly in your cylinder's sensor groove, so tell us the cylinder series and we will verify the fit.
