The AirTAC Airtac DMSE Electronic Sensor DMSE-020 is a genuine DMS magnetic position switch. It senses the magnet ring in a pneumatic cylinder's piston and signals when the piston reaches that point, giving a 2-wire output on 10-28 V DC with a 2 m flying lead. It only works on a cylinder that carries a piston magnet.
The DMSE-020 is an electronic, solid-state position switch from AirTAC's DMS range. It clips into the sensor groove of an AirTAC cylinder that carries the built-in magnet option and signals when the piston reaches it. The 2-wire output runs from a 10-28 V DC supply through a 2 m flying lead, and the housing is sealed to IP64.
Because the output is 2-wire, it wires in series with your load just like a mechanical contact, yet nothing inside moves, so there is no contact bounce to confuse a fast counter. The E profile letter is a fit code that selects the groove style on the cylinder body - confirm it against your cylinder series before ordering.

2-wire versions run 10-28 V DC; NPN / PNP 3-wire versions run 5-30 V DC. IP64 as standard. Order the RW version where coolant, washdown or constant cable flexing is present. Switching distance, response time, current rating, voltage drop, LED behaviour, contact life, weight and dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.

We do not hold the full profile-to-cylinder-series table, so confirm the profile letter against your cylinder model before ordering — send us the cylinder part number and we will check the fit.
The split is electrical, not quality. Solid-state DMS and EMS are DC-only and suit modern PLC inputs; the reed-based CMS switches a much wider window, so it is the one for AC circuits, relay logic and older panels. The RW (IP68) option exists on DMS and EMS only.
| This switch | DMSE · 2-wire · 10-28 V DC |

| Consider EMS | the mini 2-wire electronic switch for tight installations |
| Consider CMS | the reed alternative for AC circuits and voltages up to 240 V |
| Mounting parts | F-MQ (round body), F-ACT (tie-rod) |
Clipped into the groove of a magnet-equipped AirTAC bore cylinder on a small gantry, the DMSE-020 confirms the gripper has fully retracted before the next cycle starts.
Mounted on the pusher cylinder of a carton packing conveyor, the 2 m lead reaches a nearby junction box where the signal joins the series circuit to the stopper relay.
A 2-wire switch behaves like a dry contact in series with the load, so retrofitting it into older relay-based machine logic needs no PLC input card changes.
Choose the DMSE-020 when your circuit is DC, the supply sits between 10-28 V, and a simple series-wired 2-wire sensor suits the panel. If your PLC input card prefers a dedicated switching line, step up to a 3-wire NPN or PNP DMS variant instead. A 2 m flying lead keeps cabling short and can be trimmed to length on site. The E profile must seat in the cylinder's sensor groove - a wrong profile simply will not clip in. Remember: this switch senses nothing on its own; the cylinder needs the magnet option fitted.
Quick checklist
Use the F-MQ bracket on round-body cylinders and F-ACT on tie-rod cylinders where there is no groove to seat the switch. Both are ordered separately from the switch. Switching distance and mounting dimensions come from the factory datasheet — ask us for the sheet that matches your cylinder.
It is an electronic (solid-state) switch with a 2-wire output. Supply voltage is 10-28 V DC, protection is IP64, and the connection is a 2 m flying lead. For switching current, voltage drop or repeatability figures, confirm from the datasheet.
A reed switch has a mechanical contact and suits AC or DC supplies, but the contact wears and can bounce. The DMSE-020 is solid-state: DC only, no moving parts, cleaner cycling for frequent switching. Both types still require a cylinder fitted with the magnet option.
