The AirTAC Airtac DMSE Electronic Sensor DMSE-N050 is a genuine DMS magnetic position switch. It senses the magnet ring in a pneumatic cylinder's piston and signals when the piston reaches that point, giving a npn 3-wire output on 5-30 V DC with a 5 m flying lead. It only works on a cylinder that carries a piston magnet.
The DMSE-N050 is a solid-state electronic position switch from AirTAC's DMS range, built to read the piston magnet of an AirTAC cylinder fitted with the magnet option. It gives an NPN 3-wire output, runs on a 5-30 V DC supply, and arrives with a 5 m flying lead. As the general type it carries an IP64 protection rating.
Because the switching element is fully electronic, there is no mechanical contact to bounce or wear out, which suits it to machines that index the same cylinder position thousands of times per shift. The 3-wire sink arrangement delivers a clean, defined signal level straight into a PLC input, so the controller never has to interpret a drifting series-wired signal. The E profile letter is a fit code that must match the groove on your cylinder body - confirm the exact pairing against your cylinder series before ordering.

We do not hold the full profile-to-cylinder-series table, so confirm the profile letter against your cylinder model before ordering — send us the cylinder part number and we will check the fit.
The split is electrical, not quality. Solid-state DMS and EMS are DC-only and suit modern PLC inputs; the reed-based CMS switches a much wider window, so it is the one for AC circuits, relay logic and older panels. The RW (IP68) option exists on DMS and EMS only.

| Consider EMS | the mini 2-wire electronic switch for tight installations |
| Consider CMS | the reed alternative for AC circuits and voltages up to 240 V |
| Mounting parts | F-MQ (round body), F-ACT (tie-rod) |
Mounted in the groove of a magnet-equipped clamping cylinder on a CNC fixture, the DMSE-N050's NPN output confirms the clamp is fully retracted before the program allows the spindle to start.
The clean NPN 3-wire signal feeds a sinking PLC input card directly, giving the controller an unambiguous piston-position bit without leakage-current ambiguity on long runs.
On a parcel sortation conveyor, this switch detects the stopper cylinder's down position so packages are only released when the stopper is fully clear of the belt.
Pick the DMSE-N050 when your control input card is NPN (sinking) and you want solid-state switching with no contact bounce. If your PLC expects a sourcing signal, the PNP version of this DMS switch is the match instead; if your circuit is AC or you want polarity-free wiring, a CMS reed switch is the alternative. The 5 m flying lead suits controllers mounted some distance from the cylinder - cut it to length or step down to a 2 m or 3 m lead for tighter panels. For M8 or M12 connector wiring that lets maintenance unplug the sensor without cutting, choose the M08/M12 variants. Should the switch see washdown, oil mist, or a moving cable track, the -RW version lifts protection to IP68. Whatever you choose, the profile letter has to match the cylinder's sensor groove, and the cylinder itself must have the built-in magnet option - a switch alone detects nothing.
Quick checklist
Use the F-MQ bracket on round-body cylinders and F-ACT on tie-rod cylinders where there is no groove to seat the switch. Both are ordered separately from the switch. Switching distance and mounting dimensions come from the factory datasheet — ask us for the sheet that matches your cylinder.
It is a solid-state electronic magnetic position switch with an NPN 3-wire output, supplied at 5-30 V DC and protected to IP64 as the general type. Wiring is a 5 m flying lead. Switching distance, load current and response figures are not published here - confirm from the datasheet.
A 2-wire switch wires in series like a mechanical contact, which is simple but passes a small leakage current through the load. A 3-wire NPN output has a dedicated supply and signal line, giving the PLC input a cleaner, polarity-correct signal - just verify your input card is the sinking (NPN) type.
