The AirTAC Airtac DMSE Electronic Sensor DMSE-P020 is a genuine DMS magnetic position switch. It senses the magnet ring in a pneumatic cylinder's piston and signals when the piston reaches that point, giving a pnp 3-wire output on 5-30 V DC with a 2 m flying lead. It only works on a cylinder that carries a piston magnet.
This is the PNP version of AirTAC's DMS electronic switch family: the P code fixes a 3-wire sourcing output and 020 sets a 2 m flying lead that you dress to the machine's routing. The E-profile body sits in the cylinder's sensor groove and reads the piston magnet. Supply range is 5-30 V DC and the general housing holds an IP64 rating.
A PNP output sources current into the PLC input, the convention most European control platforms follow, so the signal lead feeds a positive logic level when the magnet arrives. Because the switching element is a transistor, there is no mechanical contact to bounce or wear out, which suits high-cycle automation. The E letter only defines the groove fit - send us the cylinder series and we will confirm the mechanical match.

2-wire versions run 10-28 V DC; NPN / PNP 3-wire versions run 5-30 V DC. IP64 as standard. Order the RW version where coolant, washdown or constant cable flexing is present. Switching distance, response time, current rating, voltage drop, LED behaviour, contact life, weight and dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.

| E | Profile letter: the mounting / groove type that fits a particular cylinder body. This family offers E, G, H, J. It is a fit code, not a performance grade. |
| P | Output: PNP 3-wire. Blank is 2-wire, N is NPN 3-wire, P is PNP 3-wire. |
| 020 | 2 m flying lead. 020 / 030 / 050 / 100 are 2 / 3 / 5 / 10 m flying leads; M08 and M12 are M8 / M12 connector versions. |

We do not hold the full profile-to-cylinder-series table, so confirm the profile letter against your cylinder model before ordering — send us the cylinder part number and we will check the fit.
The split is electrical, not quality. Solid-state DMS and EMS are DC-only and suit modern PLC inputs; the reed-based CMS switches a much wider window, so it is the one for AC circuits, relay logic and older panels. The RW (IP68) option exists on DMS and EMS only.

Feeds a sourcing signal to a European-built press controller each time a die-clamp cylinder locks, blocking the stroke until all clamps confirm.
Reports the top and bottom positions of hoist cylinders on a storage-retrieval machine so the crane controller sequences lifts safely.
On an assembly-line torque station, the switch proves the fixture cylinder has clamped the part before the nutrunner is enabled.
Order the P version when the PLC input cards expect a sourcing signal, the standard on many European platforms; NPN machines take the N build instead. The 2 m flying lead suits direct termination on a terminal strip and gives free dress length in the panel; step up to an M8 or M12 connector build where switches must unplug during service. Protection is IP64 as standard, and the -RW option lifts that to IP68 for wet zones. Ordering also demands a piston with the factory magnet and a groove-matched E profile.
Quick checklist
Use the F-MQ bracket on round-body cylinders and F-ACT on tie-rod cylinders where there is no groove to seat the switch. Both are ordered separately from the switch. Switching distance and mounting dimensions come from the factory datasheet — ask us for the sheet that matches your cylinder.
Electronic (solid-state) type, PNP 3-wire sourcing output, 5-30 V DC supply, IP64 protection in the general build, terminated in a 2 m flying lead. It detects only the magnet of an AirTAC cylinder piston; load ratings are a datasheet matter, so confirm them with your RFQ.
Match the sensor to the input card: PNP sources current and is standard on many European controls, while NPN sinks and is common on Asian-platform machines. Both share the same DMS body and 5-30 V DC supply. Also check that the E profile fits your cylinder's groove, and treat a -W suffix as an undocumented special - we confirm it from the datasheet instead of assuming it matches -RW.
