The AirTAC Airtac DMSE Electronic Sensor DMSE-P030 is a genuine DMS magnetic position switch. It senses the magnet ring in a pneumatic cylinder's piston and signals when the piston reaches that point, giving a pnp 3-wire output on 5-30 V DC with a 3 m flying lead. It only works on a cylinder that carries a piston magnet.
The AirTAC DMSE-P030 belongs to the DMS electronic (solid-state) family and switches in a PNP 3-wire arrangement. Mounted into the sensor groove of a magnet-equipped AirTAC cylinder, it signals when the piston arrives at the set position. The 3 m flying lead gives extra routing freedom between machine and cabinet, the supply range is 5-30 V DC, and the general housing is IP64.
Two things set this model apart from a reed alternative: the output has no moving contact, so it tolerates high-frequency cycling without bounce or contact wear, and the three-wire scheme separates supply from signal, which keeps the PLC input reading clean over longer cable runs. Profile E sets the groove fit - match it to your cylinder, and check the datasheet if you are unsure which letter your series takes.

2-wire versions run 10-28 V DC; NPN / PNP 3-wire versions run 5-30 V DC. IP64 as standard. Order the RW version where coolant, washdown or constant cable flexing is present. Switching distance, response time, current rating, voltage drop, LED behaviour, contact life, weight and dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.

The split is electrical, not quality. Solid-state DMS and EMS are DC-only and suit modern PLC inputs; the reed-based CMS switches a much wider window, so it is the one for AC circuits, relay logic and older panels. The RW (IP68) option exists on DMS and EMS only.

| Consider EMS | the mini 2-wire electronic switch for tight installations |
| Consider CMS | the reed alternative for AC circuits and voltages up to 240 V |
| Mounting parts | F-MQ (round body), F-ACT (tie-rod) |
Two switches per stopper report retract and extend positions so the PLC only releases product when the blade is fully down.
The 3 m lead reaches the control panel without splicing on a locate-and-pin unit that indexes parts between stations.
Solid-state switching survives the rapid stroking of scrap ejectors where a mechanical contact would wear out early.
Choose this model when the control system uses positive-switching (sourcing) inputs and the run from cylinder to panel is too long for a 2 m lead. If the input card is negative-switching, order the NPN version instead. Where cables get serviced often, an M8 or M12 connector type lets crews unplug rather than re-terminate. For washdown or oil-mist zones, look at the -RW version with its IP68 rating. Remember: the cylinder must carry the built-in magnet, and profile E must fit its groove.
Quick checklist
Use the F-MQ bracket on round-body cylinders and F-ACT on tie-rod cylinders where there is no groove to seat the switch. Both are ordered separately from the switch. Switching distance and mounting dimensions come from the factory datasheet — ask us for the sheet that matches your cylinder.
Type: electronic (solid-state) magnetic position switch. Output: PNP 3-wire, for sourcing PLC inputs. Supply voltage: 5-30 V DC. Protection: IP64 on the general type. Wiring: 3 m flying lead. No magnet in the cylinder piston, no signal - the magnet option is required.
A 2-wire unit wires in series like a mechanical contact, which is simple but leaves a small leakage current through the load. A 3-wire PNP output gives the PLC input a definite switched-positive signal with cleaner levels, which matters on longer runs and fast counters. Just make sure the input card matches the polarity - PNP for sourcing inputs, NPN for sinking.
