The AirTAC Airtac DMSE Electronic Sensor DMSE-PC12 is a genuine DMS magnetic position switch. It senses the magnet ring in a pneumatic cylinder's piston and signals when the piston reaches that point, giving a pnp 3-wire output on 5-30 V DC. It only works on a cylinder that carries a piston magnet.
The DMSE-PC12 is an AirTAC DMS-series electronic position switch with a PNP 3-wire output. It is a solid-state sensor, so there is no mechanical contact to wear or bounce - it simply reports the position of the piston magnet in an AirTAC cylinder fitted with the magnet option. The wiring token C12 is a connection code we will confirm from the datasheet on request. As a 3-wire PNP type it runs on 5-30 V DC and carries the general IP64 protection rating.
Because the output is PNP (sourcing), the switch feeds a positive signal into the PLC input, which gives a cleaner, faster-changing state than a 2-wire loop - useful on high-cycle machines. Profile E defines the body style that must seat in your cylinder's sensor groove; confirm the exact fit against your cylinder series before ordering. This switch senses nothing on its own - the cylinder needs the built-in magnet.

2-wire versions run 10-28 V DC; NPN / PNP 3-wire versions run 5-30 V DC. IP64 as standard. Order the RW version where coolant, washdown or constant cable flexing is present. Switching distance, response time, current rating, voltage drop, LED behaviour, contact life, weight and dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.

We do not hold the full profile-to-cylinder-series table, so confirm the profile letter against your cylinder model before ordering — send us the cylinder part number and we will check the fit.
The split is electrical, not quality. Solid-state DMS and EMS are DC-only and suit modern PLC inputs; the reed-based CMS switches a much wider window, so it is the one for AC circuits, relay logic and older panels. The RW (IP68) option exists on DMS and EMS only.

A PNP 3-wire output plugs straight into a sourcing PLC input card, giving the controller a clean position signal for cam timing and reject-gate triggers.
Mounted in the groove of a magnet-equipped gripper cylinder, the solid-state switch confirms full extension before the next robot motion command is released.
Profile E suits cylinders whose sensor groove takes the slimmer DMS body, letting engineers add position feedback without redesigning the fixture.
Choose a DMS electronic switch like this one when your circuit is DC and you want a crisp PLC signal with no contact bounce. Pick PNP if your input card expects a sourcing signal - NPN models (code N) are available for sinking inputs. The profile letter E must match the cylinder's sensor groove so the body clips in correctly. Remember the host cylinder must have the magnet option, otherwise there is nothing to detect. If you need washdown-grade sealing, look at the -RW version instead, which lifts protection to IP68.
Quick checklist
Use the F-MQ bracket on round-body cylinders and F-ACT on tie-rod cylinders where there is no groove to seat the switch. Both are ordered separately from the switch. Switching distance and mounting dimensions come from the factory datasheet — ask us for the sheet that matches your cylinder.
It is an AirTAC DMS electronic (solid-state) switch with a PNP 3-wire output. Supply voltage is 5-30 V DC, protection is IP64 as the general type, and the wiring token C12 is a connection code we will confirm from the datasheet. The profile E letter sets the fit for the cylinder's sensor groove.
A 3-wire PNP switch delivers a dedicated sourcing signal to the PLC input, avoiding the small leakage current and voltage drop of a 2-wire loop wired in series. It also lets the controller distinguish a genuine OFF from a wire fault. Match PNP to a sourcing input card; use the NPN version for sinking inputs.
